We are hiring a Quality Lab Technician for our sand plant in Liwa, UAE. This role is responsible for conducting laboratory testing and quality control inspections on sand products to ensure compliance with company and client requirements, specifications, and industry standards, supporting operational excellence through consistent product quality and reliable test results.

Position Overview
This Quality Lab Technician role performs routine and specialized tests on sand samples, including sieve analysis, grain size distribution, moisture content, and specific gravity, alongside API/ISO standard testing relevant to oilfield sand. You will monitor raw materials and finished products for compliance, support CAPA for non-conforming materials, maintain accurate lab records and reports, perform equipment calibration and maintenance, and follow strict HSE policies while collaborating with production teams and supporting audits.

Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing & Analysis
- Perform routine and specialized tests on sand samples (sieve analysis, grain size, moisture, turbidity, specific gravity)
- Conduct API/ISO standard testing relevant to oilfield sand, including frac sand testing where applicable
- Record and interpret test results accurately and promptly
- Calibrate and operate laboratory equipment and instruments
Quality Control
- Monitor incoming raw materials and finished products for compliance with specifications
- Identify and report deviations from quality standards
- Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for non-conforming materials
- Assist in implementing quality control procedures and process improvements
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, test logs, and reports
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports for management
- Ensure proper documentation in accordance with ISO/QMS requirements
Equipment Maintenance & HSE
- Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of lab equipment
- Ensure instruments are in good working condition and properly certified
- Follow all HSE policies, procedures, and safety standards for material and chemical handling
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free lab environment
Collaboration & Audit Support
- Work closely with production and operations teams to ensure continuous quality improvement
- Communicate test results and quality issues clearly to relevant departments
- Support internal and external audits and inspections
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Material Science, Geology, or a related field
Experience Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience in a laboratory or quality control role
- Preferably in oilfield services, sand processing plants, or construction materials testing
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory testing methods for sand and aggregates
- Familiarity with API/ISO standards is preferred
- Proficiency in using lab equipment and data recording systems
- Basic computer skills (MS Excel, reporting tools)
Soft Skills & Working Conditions
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical/problem-solving skills
