Position Overview
The Quality Control Supervisor (Fresh Produce) at GMG in Dubai supervises all fresh produce QC activities across the Distribution Center — overseeing inspections of incoming fruits and vegetables, monitoring product freshness, appearance, temperature, packaging condition, and shelf life, managing stored product inspections, supervising picking and sorting quality, ensuring cold chain compliance, maintaining HACCP standards, and coordinating with Operations, suppliers, and stores to investigate quality issues and support timely corrective actions. This role also leads and develops a team of QC Inspectors.

Key Responsibilities
Fresh Produce Inspection & Quality Assessment
- Supervise the inspection of all incoming fresh fruits and vegetables to ensure compliance with approved quality specifications
- Assess product freshness, appearance, colour, texture, ripeness, temperature, packaging condition, and shelf life parameters
- Conduct routine inspections of stored products to identify spoilage, deterioration, contamination risks, and quality deviations
- Supervise picking and sorting activities, ensuring all products selected and dispatched meet required quality and freshness standards
Cold Chain, Storage & Handling Compliance
- Monitor product handling, storage conditions, hygiene practices, and cold chain compliance throughout Distribution Center operations
- Ensure temperature-controlled environments meet required specifications for all fresh produce categories at every stage
- Identify and report any cold chain deviations, contamination risks, or handling issues that could affect product quality
- Support corrective actions and process improvements related to fresh produce storage, handling, and cold chain management
Non-Conformance, CAPA & Supplier Coordination
- Identify and report non-conformities and support product rejection, escalation, and corrective action processes where required
- Coordinate with Operations, suppliers, and stores to investigate quality issues, customer complaints, and product incidents
- Support CAPA and continuous improvement initiatives related to fresh produce quality, spoilage, shelf life, and supplier performance
- Participate in supplier quality evaluations and provide documented feedback to support sourcing and supplier management decisions
HACCP, Food Safety & Audit Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with HACCP principles, UAE food safety regulations, and GMG’s internal quality and food safety standards
- Maintain accurate inspection records, quality reports, non-conformance documentation, and all other required quality records
- Participate in food safety audits, hygiene inspections, and other quality improvement initiatives across the Distribution Center
- Support continuous improvement of food safety practices and quality documentation systems across the QC function
Team Supervision & Inspector Development
- Supervise and guide QC Inspectors to ensure consistent, accurate application of inspection standards, procedures, and checklists
- Coach and develop QC team members, building their technical competence and professional confidence in fresh produce quality
- Ensure all QC team members understand and apply HACCP, food safety, and fresh produce quality standards correctly at all times
- Coordinate team schedules and workload distribution to ensure effective QC coverage across all Distribution Center operations
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical Competencies
- Strong practical knowledge of fresh produce quality control and inspection standards for fruits and vegetables
- Deep understanding of food safety principles, HACCP application, and UAE food safety regulatory requirements
- Experience in fresh produce handling, storage, cold chain management, and Distribution Center quality operations
- Proficiency in non-conformance management, CAPA processes, root cause analysis, and quality documentation
- Ability to conduct quality sampling and apply inspection techniques consistently across diverse fresh produce categories
- Experience in supplier quality management, audit participation, and compliance verification activities
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Proven supervisory ability — experienced in guiding and developing QC Inspector teams in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong communication and coordination skills for working effectively with Operations, suppliers, stores, and management teams
- Detail-oriented and quality-focused working style with the ability to identify subtle quality deviations in fresh produce
- Proactive problem-solving approach and the ability to make rapid quality decisions under time pressure in a Distribution Center
