Position Overview
This Signalling Design Expert role leads the design and development of railway signalling systems for Metro, Mainline Railway, HSR, LRT, and APM projects, preparing signalling layouts, control tables, interface documentation, and technical specifications. You will develop signalling system architecture ensuring compliance with operational and safety requirements, coordinate signalling interfaces with telecommunications, SCADA, and traction power systems, participate in design reviews and hazard identification workshops, review consultant and contractor submissions, identify technical risks, and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities
Signalling System Design & Development
- Lead the design and development of railway signalling systems for Metro, Mainline Railway, HSR, LRT, and APM projects
- Prepare signalling design documentation, including layouts, control tables, interface documentation, and technical specifications
- Develop signalling system architecture ensuring compliance with operational, safety, and performance requirements
Multidisciplinary Coordination & Compliance
- Coordinate signalling interfaces with telecommunications, SCADA, traction power, track, rolling stock, and PSD systems
- Ensure compliance with international railway standards, client requirements, and applicable regulations
Design Reviews & Risk Management
- Participate in design reviews, hazard identification workshops, and safety assessments
- Support testing and commissioning planning and system integration activities
- Review consultant and contractor submissions to ensure technical compliance and quality
- Identify technical risks and recommend engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle
Stakeholder Engagement & Mentorship
- Support client meetings, technical workshops, and design presentations
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical excellence across project teams
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10-15 years of railway signalling design experience
- Design delivery experience for Metro, Mainline Railway, HSR, LRT, or APM systems
Technical Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of CBTC, ETCS, Interlocking, ATP, ATO, ATS, and wayside signalling systems
- Experience preparing signalling design documentation, interface specifications, and engineering calculations
- Familiarity with railway RAMS principles, functional safety, and CENELEC (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129), IEC, IEEE standards
Essential Skills
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary coordination within complex rail infrastructure projects
- Experience within international engineering consultancy environments is highly desirable
- UAE or GCC project experience is preferred
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills
