Position Overview
This Agricultural Maintenance Technician performs a wide range of preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance tasks across multiple facilities, including egg processing, poultry and cattle farming operations, a feed mill, and general property & grounds. Key Responsibilities
Equipment & Systems Maintenance
- Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on facility and production equipment
- Maintain motors, conveyors, processing lines, HVAC systems, boilers, and air compressors
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and control system issues, including PLC interfaces
- Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams for repairs
Welding, Fabrication & Ag Systems
- Perform welding and fabrication duties using MIG, TIG, or arc welders
- Maintain and repair agricultural systems such as feed delivery equipment, ventilation, lighting, and water lines in poultry houses
- Operate yard and farm equipment including mowers, tractors with implements, weed eaters, and blowers
General Facility & Grounds Maintenance
- Conduct general facility maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, tiling, painting, and lighting
- Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, hoists, and various hand/power tools
- Support installation and startup of new equipment and continuous improvement initiatives
Safety, Compliance & Documentation
- Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures, GMPs, SQF, EMS, OSHA, USDA, and FDA guidelines
- Document all work performed using work orders and PM software
- Respond promptly to maintenance emergencies to minimize downtime
- Work flexibly across shifts, weekends, and multiple locations based on business needs
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and environmental responsibility
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certificate or degree preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a multi-trade maintenance role (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or ag-related preferred)
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to diagnose and repair systems independently
- Experience with welding, fabrication, and industrial tools
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and PLCs
Essential Skills & Physical Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and schematics
- Familiarity with food safety, manufacturing, agriculture operations, and regulatory standards
- Computer literate; able to use maintenance tracking systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders/stairs, work in confined spaces and at heights
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; CDL preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
