About the Role
The Agriculture Field Representative will work closely with the Field Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate agricultural field activities. This role acts as a key link between contract growers, harvesting crews, and plant operations, ensuring smooth crop flow, food safety compliance, and operational efficiency.
This position is ideal for professionals with strong experience in agriculture operations, food safety, personnel supervision, and harvest coordination. It combines outdoor fieldwork with reporting, compliance, and team leadership responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities – Agriculture Field Representative
As an Agriculture Field Representative, your responsibilities will include a wide range of operational, supervisory, and compliance-related tasks:
- Recording and entering agricultural data to compute grower product by crop, date, block, and weight on a weekly basis
- Assisting the Field Manager in maintaining seed inventory and generating invoices
- Arranging and coordinating transportation of crops from fields to the processing plant
- Supporting coordination between contract growers and plant production teams to ensure smooth planting and harvest schedules
- Inspecting growing crops for disease, insect damage, and quality issues, and recommending corrective actions
- Supervising harvesting crews to ensure productivity, safety, and quality standards
- Monitoring and enforcing compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and TOSHA regulations
- Ensuring compliance with company policies including HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, Food Quality Policies, and Safety Procedures
- Assisting in directing maintenance and repair of harvest machinery and equipment
- Enforcing company rules related to attendance, food safety, production quality, and workplace safety
- Training subordinate personnel on SOPs and ensuring consistent procedural compliance
- Maintaining mechanical records, reports, and operational documentation
- Promoting positive employee relations across field and plant teams
- Ensuring a safe work environment by following all hazard communication, lockout/tagout, and process safety programs
- Clearing pesticide applications through the CDMS program
- Adhering to the company’s Bio-terrorism Program
- Serving as backup to the Field Manager when required
- Performing additional duties as assigned by management
This role requires leadership, accountability, and the ability to work independently in fast-paced agricultural environments.
Qualifications & Experience Required
Experience
To succeed as an Agriculture Field Representative, candidates must have:
- Strong knowledge of food processing principles, quality control, HACCP, and GMP
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to organize and direct subordinate personnel
- Experience working with preventive maintenance programs and harvest equipment
Education
- College degree in Agriculture, Entomology, or Horticulture preferred
- 4–8 years of relevant experience in the food or agriculture industry may substitute for formal education
Special Skills
- Advanced understanding of agriculture operations, entomology, and harvesting equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) required
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Work Environment
- Regular work in outdoor weather conditions, including wet and humid environments
- Combination of field-based and office work
- Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings, evenings, and peak harvest periods
- Willingness to travel as required
