Position Overview
This Manual Machinist role involves setting up and operating machines in accordance with manufacturers’ operating instructions to accomplish required jobs laid out in Work Orders. You will visually check cutting tools and materials before commencing work, operate machines safely and competently, coordinate with the QC Inspector after completion, read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances, and select, align, and secure holding fixtures and cutting tools on machines such as mills, lathes, vertical borers, grinders, and shapers.

 Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation
- Set up and operate machines per competence and manufacturers’ operating instructions to accomplish Work Orders
- Visually check cutting tools and materials before commencing work, replacing tools and reporting defects
- Operate machines safely and competently, maintaining good safety and housekeeping standards per QHSE policies
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, adjusting controls as required
Precision Work & Quality Coordination
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories on machines
- Coordinate with the QC Inspector after completion of works
Shift Handover & General Duties
- Ensure an effective hand-over is carried out at the beginning/end of each shift, communicating safety-related information
- Responsible for general housekeeping and cleaning of the working area
- Perform other related field, maintenance, or shop duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- ITI in Trade Machinist + NCVT
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of previous experience
- Previous experience machining API connections is an advantage
- Ideally extensive experience in a workshop environment for oil and gas companies
Essential Skills
- Advanced skills across a variety of machine types including lathe, horizontal and vertical boring, and milling
- Proficiency in pedestal drilling, cast machining, ball grinding, surface grinding, and horizontal/vertical boring machines
- QC experience in dimensional checks, precision measuring equipment, and shaft TIR checking
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Basic mathematics skills, machining knowledge, and basic understanding of welding
