OllyGarden helps engineering teams get reliable OpenTelemetry data. Its AI agent, Rose, reviews customer code, opens pull requests that fix instrumentation problems and migrates services off proprietary agents. OllyGarden is hiring a senior AI Software Engineer in Berlin to build Rose with a small team and own its open source agent skills.
About OllyGarden
Mission: Reliable OpenTelemetry data for engineering teams
Product: Rose, an AI agent for OpenTelemetry instrumentation
Open Source: Agent skills that give coding agents accurate, current OpenTelemetry knowledge
Codebase: TypeScript: Cloudflare Workers control plane, sandboxed agent runs and an in-house agent harness
Why This Role?
Ownership: Build Rose features from spec to production
Small Team: Report directly to the CEO
Open Source: Maintain public agent skills used by coding agents everywhere
Process: Practical hiring, including a paid exercise based on a real Rose problem
Position Overview
As AI Software Engineer, you build Rose features from specification to production, starting with GitLab support and a flow that turns telemetry findings into fixes across a customer’s repositories. You make agent runs reliable with structured output, retries, long-running sandbox jobs and stable findings. You build evaluations that show whether a prompt or model change improved Rose and what it cost, engineer context for agents working on Go, Java, Kotlin, TypeScript, Python and .NET code, and maintain open source agent skills in step with each OpenTelemetry release.
Why This Role Matters: Few AI jobs let you ship a real agent product end to end with measurable quality. You work in a small team, own public open source skills and see your work used in customer code. The role is product engineering, not research, so the focus stays on building and running systems that work.
