Position Overview
This Backend Engineer role centers on architecting, designing, and developing scalable, high-performance APIs that support the company’s industrial AI products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to evolve the technology stack, deliver robust and efficient backend solutions, and use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while owning the quality, correctness, and security of everything you ship.

Key Responsibilities
API Design and Development
- Architect, design, and develop APIs that adhere to industry best practices
- Implement RESTful APIs using backend languages such as Node.js and Python
- Build robust, maintainable APIs using frameworks like Express.js, Flask, and FastAPI
Database and Cloud Expertise
- Design and optimize database schemas for efficient data retrieval and storage
- Implement data models and queries supporting core API functionality
- Deploy and manage API infrastructure on cloud platforms with a focus on scalability and security
CI/CD, Docker & Kubernetes
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring
- Containerize applications using Docker for efficient, repeatable deployment
- Manage container orchestration using Kubernetes for scalability and reliability
Performance Optimization & AI-Accelerated Engineering
- Optimize API performance for low latency and high throughput
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks across API and database layers
- Use AI coding assistants and agentic dev tools to accelerate implementation and documentation
- Review, validate, and refine AI-generated output, owning code quality and security regardless of origin
Collaboration, Security & Leadership
- Collaborate with product managers, front-end developers, and QA engineers
- Mentor junior engineers in API development and responsible AI-tool usage
- Implement security best practices to protect data and prevent vulnerabilities
- Design APIs capable of scaling reliably as the user base grows
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
Experience Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on API development
- Strong background in CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure and AWS
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in multiple backend languages such as Node.js and Python
- Strong experience with frameworks including Express.js and FastAPI
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB
- Familiarity with API security best practices and authentication mechanisms
- Comfort working with AI-assisted development tools like Copilot or Claude Code
- Experience with data and machine learning pipelines is a bonus
