The Chemist in this Construction Chemicals and Dry-Mix role in Ras Al Khaimah is a technically demanding position that combines laboratory-based formulation work with real-world product development, raw material evaluation, and customer-facing technical support. You will develop and optimize construction chemical products against strict technical and performance standards, test and evaluate new raw materials, conduct competitor benchmarking, carry out product trials and performance testing, identify cost-effective raw material alternatives, and regularly visit customer sites and construction projects to provide hands-on technical assistance. Key Responsibilities
Product Development & Formulation
- Develop and improve construction chemical products including renders, plasters, tile adhesives, tile grouts, masonry mortars, repair mortars, screeds, self-leveling compounds, epoxy systems, and waterproofing products
- Lead formulation development and optimization to ensure all products consistently meet required technical and performance standards
- Conduct product trials and performance testing throughout the development process to validate formulation decisions
- Apply competitor benchmarking to position products competitively and identify performance improvement opportunities
Raw Material Evaluation & Cost Optimization
- Apply strong knowledge of construction chemical raw materials to identify suitable and cost-effective alternatives for existing formulations
- Conduct laboratory testing and evaluation of new raw materials to assess suitability, quality, and impact on product performance
- Qualify alternative raw materials that maintain or improve product performance while achieving cost optimization targets
- Maintain accurate raw material evaluation records, test results, and approval documentation for quality and audit purposes
Quality Improvement & Technical Testing
- Carry out quality evaluations and performance testing to drive continuous improvement of existing product formulations
- Apply practical knowledge of tile grouts and epoxy systems including colour matching for specialized product requirements
- Ensure all products meet relevant UAE, international, and customer-specific performance and quality standards
- Support quality investigations into field complaints or product performance issues and implement corrective actions
Technical Site Support & Customer Engagement
- Provide hands-on technical support at customer sites and construction projects across the UAE as required
- Assist customers and applicators with correct product selection, mixing, application, and troubleshooting guidance
- Build strong technical relationships with customers, contractors, and project specifiers to support product adoption and retention
- Report field findings, customer feedback, and site observations back to the R&D and commercial teams for product improvement
Mandatory Requirement — UAE Driving Licence
A valid UAE driving licence is mandatory for this position. The role requires regular travel to customer sites, construction projects, and project locations across the UAE. Applicants without a valid UAE driving licence will not be considered for this role.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational & Experience Requirements
- B.Sc. in Chemistry or an equivalent qualification in a relevant scientific discipline
- 4 to 8+ years of relevant experience in the Construction Chemicals and/or Dry-Mix industry
- Hands-on experience with formulation development, product optimization, and raw material testing in construction chemicals
- Practical knowledge of tile grouts and epoxy systems including hands-on colour matching experience
- Good understanding of construction chemical products, their applications, and performance parameters in real-world conditions
Technical & Soft Skills
- Strong English communication and interpersonal skills for customer support, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and standard office productivity tools
- Ability to work independently on product development projects and manage multiple formulation tasks simultaneously
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation discipline and laboratory record-keeping skills
