Position Overview
As a Chemist – Water Treatment in the Eastern Region of Saudi Arabia, you will be responsible for the day-to-day chemical analysis, quality testing, process monitoring, and compliance oversight of a water treatment operation — covering utilities, water treatment, desalination, or similar O&M facilities. You will conduct water quality tests, manage chemical dosing procedures, monitor process performance, ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and maintain accurate records of all chemical and analytical activities. This is a technical, laboratory-based role in a high-stakes industrial water treatment environment where precision, safety, and process knowledge are all critical.
Key Responsibilities
Water Quality Testing & Chemical Analysis
- Conduct water quality testing and chemical analysis across raw, process, and treated water streams — applying established analytical methods to verify compliance with quality specifications and regulatory standards.
- Monitor process performance parameters — tracking key indicators such as pH, turbidity, conductivity, TDS, chlorine levels, and chemical residuals to ensure optimal water treatment plant performance and product water quality.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records of all testing, analysis, chemical dosing activities, and operational data — ensuring full traceability and compliance documentation across all water treatment processes.
Chemical Dosing & Process Management
- Manage chemical dosing operations — calculating, monitoring, and adjusting dosing rates for coagulants, antiscalants, biocides, pH correction chemicals, and other treatment chemicals in accordance with process requirements and water quality targets.
- Monitor and evaluate desalination and water treatment processes — identifying deviations from normal operating parameters, investigating causes, and recommending or implementing corrective actions to restore optimal performance.
Safety Compliance & Regulatory Standards
- Ensure full compliance with safety procedures, environmental standards, and operational regulations — applying Saudi and international water treatment and chemical handling safety requirements in all aspects of the role.
- Support O&M project activities — contributing to utilities, water treatment, and desalination operations and maintenance programmes with technical chemistry expertise and process knowledge.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Chemical Engineering or a closely related scientific discipline — providing the academic foundation for water treatment chemistry, process analysis, and chemical handling in an industrial environment.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the water treatment industry — hands-on, professional experience in water treatment, desalination, utilities, or similar O&M projects is mandatory for this role.
- Experience in utilities, water treatment, desalination, or similar O&M projects — directly relevant background in the types of industrial water systems operated in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Region.
- Practical knowledge of water quality testing, chemical analysis, chemical dosing, process monitoring, and safety compliance — the core technical competencies required for this chemist position.
