Key Responsibilities
Daily Maintenance Supervision & Work Coordination
- Supervise and coordinate daily engineering and maintenance activities to ensure hotel facilities and equipment are maintained to IHG standards
- Assign and follow up on maintenance requests — ensuring timely, effective resolution of all reported issues across rooms and operational areas
- Respond promptly to guest and operational maintenance requests to support guest comfort and satisfaction throughout the hotel
- Carry out regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, F&B outlets, and back-of-house areas to identify maintenance requirements proactively
Preventive Maintenance & Building Systems
- Monitor preventive maintenance schedules and ensure hotel equipment and facilities remain safe, functional, and fully operational
- Apply good knowledge of hotel building systems including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical systems, and building services
- Maintain proper handling, storage, and care of engineering tools, spare parts, equipment, and hotel assets
- Identify and report safety hazards, equipment defects, and maintenance concerns promptly — following up on corrective actions to closure
Team Leadership, Coaching & IHG Compliance
- Support and guide Engineering colleagues through coaching, on-the-job training, and clear day-to-day communication
- Ensure full compliance with IHG brand standards, health and safety requirements, local UAE regulations, and hotel engineering procedures
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate outstanding issues and system status to the Chief Engineer
- Support emergency response procedures and assist in ensuring the hotel is operationally prepared for emergencies at all times
Energy Conservation & Sustainability
- Support energy and water conservation initiatives and waste reduction programmes through responsible use of hotel resources
- Contribute to IHG’s sustainability targets through practical day-to-day engineering decisions and team awareness
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce resource consumption across hotel engineering activities
- Promote a culture of responsible engineering practice and environmental awareness within the Engineering team
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Technical diploma, vocational qualification, or relevant training in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, or a related engineering field
- Relevant technical certification or government authority licence as required under UAE local regulations
Experience Requirements
- Ideally 2–4 years of experience in hotel engineering or a similar hospitality/building maintenance environment
- Previous supervisory experience in a hotel or hospitality engineering role is strongly preferred
- Good knowledge of general hotel maintenance including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical systems, and building services
- Must meet the legal requirements to work in the UAE
