Position Overview
This Laboratory Specialist role involves performing a range of laboratory procedures to support the analysis of clinical specimens, under the supervision of the Genomics Laboratory Supervisor. The successful candidate will contribute to the preparation, processing, and analysis of samples using molecular biology and genomic techniques, helping to ensure timely and accurate test results within Biogenix Labs’ Clinical Genomics team.

Key Responsibilities
Sample Processing & Molecular Techniques
- Perform manual and automated extraction and purification of DNA/RNA from clinical specimens (blood, tissue, bone marrow)
- Prepare DNA libraries and utilize sequencing platforms for basic genomic analysis
- Operate and troubleshoot Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) equipment
- Conduct PCR, Sanger sequencing, and MLPA testing
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Adhere to laboratory policies and comply with applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements
- Perform QA/QC procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and troubleshoot technical issues
- Assist in maintaining compliance with CAP/ISO standards in coordination with the quality department
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance with GCLP and internal SOPs
Validation & Continuous Development
- Participate in validation activities, instrument setup, and daily lab operations
- Support the development and implementation of next-generation sequencing methods and workflows
- Stay current with relevant scientific literature and techniques in clinical genomics
- Communicate effectively within the lab team and with the line manager
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Molecular Biology, or a related field
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical laboratory
- At least 1 year in molecular biology or genomics
- Hands-on experience with Sanger Sequencing, MLPA, NGS, and/or Microarray techniques
- Experience working in a CAP or ISO15189-accredited laboratory
Certification & Language Requirements
- DOH/DHA license or eligibility
- Proficiency with automated laboratory systems
- Fluent in English
