Position Overview
This Logistics Specialist role involves planning, monitoring, and optimizing BYD Automotive’s end-to-end supply chain from the manufacturing factory through to delivery to retail partners across Germany and Europe. You will manage logistics and transport service providers both operationally and strategically including performance monitoring, escalation handling, and contract management, coordinate all transport modes including sea, rail, and road with focus on cost, time, and quality, collaborate with freight forwarders, customs authorities, and internal departments, ensure compliance with all legal requirements and import regulations, analyze logistics processes and implement efficiency improvements, and actively support process optimization projects within the broader operations area.

Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Planning & Optimization
- Plan, monitor, and continuously optimize the full supply chain from factory to retail partner delivery
- Analyze supply chain performance data identifying bottlenecks and implementing targeted improvement measures
- Develop strategic supply chain plans aligned with BYD’s European market growth and sales targets
- Support projects aimed at process optimization within BYD Automotive’s operations area in Germany
Transport Service Provider Management
- Manage logistics and transport service providers operationally and strategically on a daily basis
- Conduct regular performance monitoring of all transport partners against agreed KPIs and SLAs
- Handle escalations professionally resolving service disruptions and delivery failures swiftly
- Manage contract negotiations and renewals with logistics and transport service providers
Multi-Modal Transport Coordination
- Coordinate all transport modes including sea freight, rail logistics, and road transport for BYD vehicles
- Balance transport mode selection with focus on cost efficiency, delivery timelines, and quality standards
- Manage international vehicle shipments from China and other production facilities to European markets
- Optimize transport routing and scheduling to minimize lead times and logistics costs continuously
Freight Forwarder & Customs Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with freight forwarders ensuring seamless coordination of international shipments
- Work with customs authorities and brokers ensuring full import compliance for all BYD vehicle deliveries
- Coordinate with internal departments including sales, finance, and operations for aligned logistics planning
- Manage all import documentation and regulatory submissions for EU market entry compliance
Legal Compliance & Import Regulations
- Ensure full compliance with all legal requirements and import regulations applicable to automotive logistics
- Stay current with evolving EU import tariffs, customs regulations, and automotive trade compliance requirements
- Manage customs classification, duty calculations, and import declaration accuracy for all vehicle shipments
- Report compliance risks and regulatory changes to management for proactive risk mitigation
Logistics Process Analysis & Efficiency
- Conduct detailed analysis of logistics processes identifying inefficiencies and deriving improvement measures
- Develop and implement process improvements enhancing supply chain speed, accuracy, and cost performance
- Build and maintain logistics performance dashboards and KPI reporting for management decision-making
- Benchmark BYD’s logistics performance against industry standards and best practices continuously
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Completed commercial vocational training in logistics, business administration, or related commercial field
- OR a university degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent
- Additional qualifications in international trade, customs, or automotive logistics are advantageous
Experience Requirements
- Professional experience in logistics, allocation, or production planning — preferably in the automotive sector
- Background managing freight forwarders, transport service providers, or logistics partners in Germany
- Experience with multi-modal transport coordination including sea freight, rail, and road logistics preferred
- Familiarity with customs import procedures and EU automotive import compliance regulations valued
Technical Skills
- Proficient in MS Excel for logistics data analysis, reporting, and supply chain performance tracking
- Experience with ERP systems for order management, logistics planning, and supply chain coordination
- Strong numerical and analytical skills for cost analysis, KPI tracking, and efficiency optimization
- Familiarity with transport management systems (TMS) and logistics software platforms advantageous
