Position Overview
As Mechanical Reliability Engineer, you make sure rotating and static equipment is available when the plant needs it. You analyse systems for reliability and cost potential (bad actors), carry out root cause and failure analysis (RCFA), and develop maintenance projects that fix weak points. You run criticality analyses, build equipment-specific maintenance strategies, ensure good maintenance material management and create dashboards and KPIs. You also help standardise management of change, maintenance and investment projects and share reliability know-how with colleagues.
Why This Role Matters: Reliability engineering sits at the centre of plant performance. In a chemical plant, fewer failures mean safer operation, lower costs and higher output. This role gives you wide responsibility, early ownership and exchange with other Sasol sites, with strong support for your professional development.
