Position Overview
This Microbiologist role at SGS involves developing and maintaining validation protocols for various environmental controls, performing tests on component samples and incoming ingredients, identifying contamination sources, and initiating corrective actions. You will monitor physiological and morphological characteristics to identify microorganisms, maintain accurate laboratory records, perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration, and report non-conformances to line management.

Key Responsibilities
Validation & Environmental Controls
- Develop and maintain validation protocols for various environmental controls
- Develop and prepare documentation for all protocols
Sample Testing & Contamination Analysis
- Perform tests on component samples, identify contamination, and analyze the appropriate source
- Initiate corrective actions based on test findings
- Perform tests on all incoming ingredients and document all records
- Collect samples from the site as required
Microorganism Identification & Documentation
- Monitor physiological and morphological characteristics and identify microorganisms
- Maintain accurate records and perform tests on all laboratory activities
Equipment, Safety & Reporting
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration according to the PM plan
- Ensure equipment calibration is completed as scheduled
- Manage sample storage and disposal
- Report instances of non-conformances to the appropriate line management
- Intervene when an unsafe act or condition is observed
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Microbiology, Environmental Science, Biotechnology, or a related field
Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in microbiological laboratory testing and analysis
Essential Knowledge
- Knowledge of EHS standards, occupational health, and environmental regulations in Saudi Arabia
