Key Responsibilities of a Quality Control Chemist
The successful candidate will undertake the following essential duties:
Laboratory Quality Control Operations:
- Implement and continuously monitor quality control procedures throughout laboratory operations
- Conduct comprehensive chemical analysis and testing of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products
- Perform detailed inspections across various production departments to ensure quality consistency
- Utilize advanced analytical instruments including HPLC, GC-MS, spectrophotometers, and titration equipment
Compliance and Regulatory Standards:
- Ensure strict adherence to quality assurance protocols, safety regulations, and international standards (ISO, GMP, GLP)
- Monitor compliance with local Qatar regulatory requirements and industry-specific guidelines
- Participate in internal and external quality audits and inspections
- Stay updated on evolving regulatory requirements and quality management systems
Quality Analysis and Problem-Solving:
- Identify deviations, non-conformances, and potential quality issues through systematic testing
- Support root cause analysis and contribute to corrective and preventive action (CAPA) initiatives
- Develop and validate new analytical methods and testing procedures
- Perform stability studies, method validation, and calibration verification
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive laboratory records, logbooks, and databases
- Generate detailed test reports, certificates of analysis, and quality documentation
- Ensure proper documentation of all quality control activities in compliance with data integrity principles
- Prepare technical reports for management review and regulatory submissions
Safety and Standard Operating Procedures:
- Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions meticulously
- Adhere to laboratory safety guidelines, chemical handling protocols, and environmental regulations
- Participate in safety training programs and contribute to workplace safety initiatives
- Properly dispose of chemical waste and maintain a clean, organised laboratory environment
Qualification Requirements for Quality Control Chemist
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or a closely related scientific field
- An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Chemistry is an advantage for senior positions
- Professional certifications in quality control, analytical chemistry, or laboratory management are beneficial
Professional Experience:
- Proven experience in Quality Control within pharmaceutical, chemical, food, or manufacturing industries
- Demonstrated expertise in laboratory testing, chemical analysis, and quality assurance methodologies
- Hands-on experience with modern analytical instruments and laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Previous work experience in GMP/GLP-regulated environments is highly desirable
Technical Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to chemical details
- Proficiency in using analytical techniques: chromatography, spectroscopy, titration, and microscopy
- Excellent understanding of quality management systems, validation protocols, and statistical quality control
