Inter Africa Civils is looking for a Senior Laboratory Scientist to work fully remotely from the United Arab Emirates. This is a senior, mid-to-senior-level role for a scientist who enjoys reviewing data closely, judging whether methods and results hold up, and helping laboratories maintain high standards from a distance. As Senior Laboratory Scientist, you’ll review and interpret laboratory test results, analytical datasets, and scientific reports; evaluate the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and traceability of laboratory data; review analytical methods, protocols, and SOPs; assess method validation and verification records; check quality control results, calibration records, and proficiency testing outcomes; investigate analytical discrepancies and possible data integrity concerns; review equipment performance and calibration documentation; support improvements to quality management systems; coordinate remotely with laboratory personnel; prepare technical evaluation and scientific reports; and contribute to research through literature review and data interpretation. The role is a scientific oversight and documentation position. Hands-on laboratory work, sample handling, and instrument operation are carried out by qualified local staff in equipped facilities.

Senior Laboratory Scientist Role — Data Review, Method Assessment & Quality Oversight
Department: Scientific & Laboratory Quality
Primary Focus: Result review, method evaluation, investigation of discrepancies
Scope: Remote scientific oversight of laboratory records and documentation
Mission: Supporting reliable laboratory operations and scientific accuracy
Senior Laboratory Scientist Position Overview
The Senior Laboratory Scientist role is about judgement applied to laboratory information. Results, methods, and records arrive from laboratories in many forms, and this role checks that they tell a consistent and trustworthy story. Much of the work is review. You’ll interpret test results and analytical datasets across relevant testing areas, and assess whether they are accurate, complete, consistent, and fully traceable back to their source. Methods and procedures get the same scrutiny. You’ll review analytical methods, testing protocols, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation, and you’ll look closely at method validation and verification records, including accuracy, precision, specificity, sensitivity, linearity, and measurement uncertainty. Quality control evidence matters a great deal in this work. You’ll evaluate blanks, reference materials, calibration records, duplicate results, and proficiency testing outcomes, and you’ll follow up where something does not add up. When an analytical discrepancy, unusual pattern, or out-of-specification result appears, you’ll investigate it, assess possible data integrity concerns, and recommend corrective and preventive action. Because the role is remote, much of this happens through clear conversations with laboratory personnel, where you’ll clarify procedures, sample details, test conditions, and reported findings. Historical data offers insight too, so you’ll analyse past results to find recurring issues and chances to improve. Reports are part of the job: you’ll prepare technical evaluations, scientific summaries, and management recommendations, and you’ll help revise procedures and review checklists. Finally, you’ll support audits through document review and follow-up, and keep your own records of reviews and findings organized.
As Senior Laboratory Scientist, you’ll bring deep knowledge of analytical chemistry or the life sciences, along with a working understanding of laboratory quality systems and the standards that govern them. The ideal candidate holds a master’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, microbiology, medical laboratory science, or another relevant science, with a PhD an advantage. Significant professional experience in laboratory science, analytical testing, research, or laboratory quality assurance is expected, along with familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 and good laboratory practice. Knowledge of calibration, reference materials, measurement uncertainty, and method validation is essential, as is experience reviewing laboratory results and technical documentation. Familiarity with laboratory information management systems and electronic records is valued, along with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, statistical tools, and technical reporting software. Strong scientific writing, analytical reasoning, and the ability to work independently across geographically spread teams will serve you well. Candidates should confirm residency and work authorization before accepting an offer. For experienced scientists who want to apply their expertise to laboratory quality from anywhere in the UAE, this fully remote role offers focused, senior-level work.
Why This Role Matters: As Senior Laboratory Scientist working remotely, you help keep laboratory data trustworthy by checking results, methods, and quality records, investigate discrepancies and data integrity concerns, recommend corrective actions that strengthen laboratory practice, support audits through rigorous document review, and build a senior career in scientific quality and laboratory oversight.
