Key Responsibilities
Mechanical, Electrical & Chemical Testing
- Perform Mechanical, Electrical (M&E), and Chemical testing independently within defined competencies and authorisations
- Conduct all testing procedures accurately and consistently, ensuring results meet the required quality and client service standards
- Apply specialist electric cable testing expertise where applicable to support client testing programmes and certification needs
- Follow all established test methods, standards, and procedures to maintain the integrity and reliability of all test results
Equipment Calibration & Lab Compliance
- Check the performance and calibration status of all test equipment before use — ensuring compliance with required specifications
- Identify any equipment calibration discrepancies or performance issues and report them to the Lead Test Engineer promptly
- Assist in the ongoing maintenance and efficient operation of all laboratory equipment and testing processes
- Ensure the laboratory environment is maintained to the highest standards of safety, organisation, and operational readiness
Workload Management & Team Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with colleagues, the Lead Test Engineer, and the Lab Administration team to schedule and effectively manage testing workloads
- Manage personal workload efficiently — prioritising tasks and collaborating with colleagues to optimise overall laboratory resources
- Provide timely, accurate updates to the Lead Test Engineer and Lab Administration team on test progress, delays, or non-compliances
- Maintain a proactive, team-oriented approach — supporting colleagues and contributing to the smooth running of all lab operations
Quality, Safety & Audit Support
- Adhere strictly to all quality, safety, and legislative requirements within the laboratory at all times during testing activities
- Support internal and external laboratory audits professionally — implementing corrective actions as required and on schedule
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and auditable records of all testing activities, results, and equipment status
- Contribute to a culture of quality excellence and continuous improvement across all aspects of the BASEC Dubai laboratory
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
- Equivalent professional technical qualifications or demonstrated practical engineering/science competency are acceptable alternatives
Experience Requirements
- Proven hands-on experience working within a testing laboratory or professional engineering environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in using laboratory testing tools, instruments, and measurement equipment accurately
- Experience with electric cable testing is desirable and will be a significant advantage in the selection process
