Position Overview

This Chemist role involves monitoring and controlling chemical reactions within refinery reactors in accordance with approved operating procedures and quality management system requirements. You will conduct sampling and chemical analysis of reactor feed, reaction mixtures, and output, monitor critical process parameters, verify raw material quantities and dosing requirements, assist with charging and mixing chemicals, and maintain accurate records for traceability and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

Reactor Monitoring & Control

  • Monitor and control chemical reactions within refinery reactors per approved operating procedures
  • Follow process parameters, quality management system requirements, and work instructions

Sampling & Chemical Analysis

  • Conduct sampling and chemical analysis of reactor feed, reaction mixtures, intermediate products, and output
  • Ensure compliance with established specifications throughout the process

Process Parameter Monitoring

  • Monitor critical reactor and process parameters including temperature, pressure, pH, concentration, and reaction time
  • Verify and calculate required quantities, concentrations, and dosing requirements of raw materials and additives

Material Handling & Escalation

  • Assist in charging, dosing, mixing, and transfer of chemicals into reactors following safety requirements
  • Identify and communicate quality issues, discrepancies, or process deviations to concerned personnel
  • Promptly escalate significant issues to the QC Manager, Refinery Supervisor, or relevant authority

Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records of chemical additions, reactor parameters, sampling, and test results
  • Ensure all reactor and laboratory activities follow approved SOPs, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a related field
