Position Overview
The Agricultural Engineer (Fendt) repairs and maintains tractors, telehandlers, and other agricultural machinery, in the workshop and out on farms, always aiming for a “right-first-time” result. You will prepare new and used machines for sale to manufacturer guidelines, use specialist diagnostic equipment and manufacturer systems such as EDT and SOURCE, keep up to date with service bulletins on AGCOnet, and write clear job cards and daily time sheets. You may also help develop junior workshop colleagues and demonstrate machines to customers, representing the company professionally at all times.
Why This Role Matters: When a tractor is down in the middle of a working season, a farmer needs it fixed properly and fast. An engineer who diagnoses accurately, repairs it right the first time, and explains the work clearly protects both the customer’s harvest and the dealership’s reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Repair, Maintenance & Preparation
- Repair and maintain vehicles and machinery to the highest standards with a “right-first-time” attitude
- Work on tractors, telehandlers, and other agricultural machinery, on-site and on-farm
- Prepare new and used vehicles and machinery for sale in line with manufacturers’ guidelines
Diagnostics & Technical Knowledge
- Use specialist diagnostic equipment and techniques, including manufacturer systems such as EDT and SOURCE
- Stay current with the latest service news and bulletins published on AGCOnet
Paperwork, Workshop & Customers
- Complete job cards, time sheets, and work reports in enough detail to justify the time spent on each repair; time sheets are completed daily
- Handle workshop housekeeping, return special tools and warranty parts to their storage area, and keep the workshop and service vehicle clean, following health and safety standards at all times
- Demonstrate new or used machinery to customers when needed, behaving professionally as a company representative
- Help develop junior members of the workshop team on occasion
- Report repair problems, potential safety issues, or training needs to workshop management
Key Performance Measures
How Performance Is Measured
- Work in progress (WIP) — job cards completed and returned to workshop management as required, with outstanding job cards kept to a minimum
- Technical ability: quality — a consistent right-first-time repair record
- Technical ability: speed and efficiency — measured against manufacturers’ recommended repair times and quotes or timescales set by workshop management
Who the Role Suits
- Tractor, telehandler, and agricultural machinery experience, with an excellent customer service attitude
- Passion for agricultural machinery and standards “above and beyond”
- Experience from heavy plant, access equipment, military vehicles, lorries, or construction equipment is also welcome
- Enthusiasm for expanding agricultural engineering knowledge
