Job Purpose
The Chemist at PepsiCo Saudi Arabia is responsible for ensuring that the quality and food safety compliance of all AQS products consistently meets PepsiCo PI and MCP standards. This includes maintaining physio and sensory testing, overseeing packaging compliance, and ensuring all processing points adhere to PepsiCo’s global quality standards. The role also requires close coordination with the Food Safety team and active participation in SFDA self-inspection processes.

Key Responsibilities
Incoming Material Inspection & SAP Release
- Conduct timely inspection of all incoming raw materials as per the established sampling plan
- Ensure prompt and accurate release of approved materials through the SAP system
- Maintain complete and up-to-date records for all incoming material inspections and approvals
Raw Material & Finished Product Management
- Manage monthly Raw Material and Finished Product rotation using FIFO and FEFO principles
- Maintain the Supplier Database including artwork, technical drawings, specifications, and QFS certificates
- Track and maintain Certificate of Analysis (COA) records from each supplier against materials received
- Keep accurate records of all chemicals and other materials received from the store
Non-Conformity & Supplier Performance
- Follow up on raw material related non-conformity reports (NCR) and maintain tracking sheets
- Witness raw material trial runs, maintain tracking sheets, and share comprehensive reports
- Prepare and share quarterly supplier performance scorecards to monitor and improve supplier quality
Laboratory Management & GLP/GHP Compliance
- Perform regular lab equipment calibration and maintain full GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) standards
- Maintain GHP (Good Hygiene Practice) compliance across all laboratory operations
- Ensure all lab processes, records, and equipment meet PepsiCo’s quality and safety requirements
Food Safety & SFDA Compliance
- Work closely with the Food Safety Team Leader to maintain all food safety requirements
- Conduct SFDA self-inspections on a monthly or quarterly basis as required
- Upload SFDA self-inspection reports and compliance records on the SFDA portal in a timely manner
- Ensure all products and processes comply with Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) regulations
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or Food Technology
- Additional certifications in food safety, HACCP, or quality management systems are a strong advantage
Experience Requirements
- 1 to 3 years of experience in CSDs (carbonated soft drinks), bottled water, or food manufacturing
- Solid familiarity with food safety requirements and SFDA regulatory standards in Saudi Arabia
- Hands-on experience with lab operations, quality control, and supplier quality management
Essential Skills
- Strong technical knowledge of chemistry, food science, and microbiology principles
- Practical understanding of SAP systems for material release and inventory tracking
- Familiarity with GLP, GHP, HACCP, and food safety management systems
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate quality records and documentation
- Good communication and teamwork skills for cross-functional collaboration with FS and quality teams
