Position Overview
This Chemist role at Ecolab Abu Dhabi places you at the heart of technical laboratory operations supporting innovative platform development. You will conduct analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances, develop new processing methods, examine potential new applications for technical platforms, and contribute directly to differentiated product and system innovation. Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Analysis & Experimentation
- Conduct analyses and experiments on organic and inorganic substances to determine and evaluate their applications
- Perform experiments to improve upon or duplicate various materials and substances
- Conduct analyses and experiments in support of product applications across technical platforms
- Maintain accurate lab notebook records and file detailed reports for all experimental work
Research & Development
- Engage in research to develop new methods of processing or production
- Examine potential new uses for existing and emerging technical platforms
- Develop innovative applications and extensions of existing or new products, processes, systems, or methods
- Ensure that proprietary project innovations are properly protected through legal instruments such as patents
Technical Reporting & Data Management
- Perform data collection, technical analysis, and summarize findings in written technical reports
- Deliver clear recommendations at key project checkpoints to guide decisions toward project conclusions
- Develop and select appropriate methods, tests, and procedures as required by assignments
- Apply scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, analyze solutions, and draw valid conclusions
Product & Process Contribution
- Contribute to the development of differentiated technology, products, processes, or systems
- Provide professional divisional support to cross-functional teams and project leads
- Create innovative solutions toward key application issues for the business
- Manage multiple laboratory tasks independently while maintaining quality and accuracy
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (Note: Biology or Biochemistry may not be a perfect fit for Nalco operations)
- Advanced degree or additional certifications in analytical or industrial chemistry is a strong advantage
Experience Requirements
- 3–5 years of relevant chemistry experience is strongly preferred; minimum 2 years considered
- Experience in chemical blending industry is the top preferred background
- Experience in third-party laboratory environments is the second preferred background
- Previous experience working under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) conditions is preferred
Technical Skills
- Operating knowledge of analytical laboratory instrumentation
- Knowledge of physical analysis, spectrophotometric analysis, quantitative analysis, and qualitative analysis
- Preferred knowledge of chromatographic analysis techniques
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while handling multiple tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience applying principles of scientific thinking to define problems and draw valid conclusions
- Demonstrated success working on complex, multi-function project teams
- Excellent people and team-building skills with ability to interact across all grade levels
- Strong presentation skills with ability to clearly articulate complex technical subject matter
