Position Overview

This Supply Chain Specialist position at Bunge’s Neuss facility plays a pivotal role in keeping the inbound flow of plant oils and fats running smoothly, compliantly, and cost-efficiently. You will oversee the entire journey of commodity shipments — from initial order placement and supplier coordination, through import documentation management and customs readiness, to final transport execution and delivery into Bunge’s production facility. Working across a multinational environment, you will proactively identify and resolve supply chain disruptions, manage logistics service providers, and collaborate closely with internal warehouse and production teams to guarantee material availability and operational continuity every single day.

Why This Role Matters: As Supply Chain Specialist at Bunge Neuss, you are the operational link between global agricultural commodity suppliers and one of Germany’s most significant plant oil and fat processing facilities. Your decisions on transport routing, logistics provider management, and import compliance directly influence Bunge’s ability to supply essential food, feed, and fuel ingredients to markets across Europe and beyond. This is a high-responsibility position for supply chain professionals ready to operate at genuine global scale.

 Key Responsibilities

Order Management & Supplier Coordination

  • Process and monitor purchase orders for plant oils and fats, ensuring accurate data entry and timely order execution throughout the procurement cycle.
  • Coordinate directly with global suppliers on order confirmations, agreed delivery schedules, and all required commercial documentation.
  • Track order status proactively and communicate clear, timely updates on shipment progress to all relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify potential supply disruptions or delays and develop practical solutions before they impact production or operations.

Import Management & Customs Compliance

  • Manage the complete import process for plant oils and fats from initial pre-notification through to final confirmed delivery at the Neuss facility.
  • Oversee all import documentation — including commercial invoices, packing lists, health certificates, and customs declarations — verifying accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure ongoing full compliance with German and European import regulations, food safety standards, and Bunge’s internal compliance frameworks.
  • Liaise with customs agents, freight forwarders, and regulatory bodies as required to facilitate smooth, timely import clearance.

Transport Coordination & Logistics Management

  • Organise and coordinate national and international transport for inbound plant oils and fats via road (truck), inland waterway (barge), and sea freight as required.
  • Select, brief, and actively manage logistics service providers — monitoring transport performance against agreed KPIs, costs, and delivery standards.
  • Optimise transport routes and modal choices to maximise cost efficiency and delivery punctuality while meeting all product-specific handling requirements.
  • Resolve transport issues, delays, or service failures quickly and professionally, maintaining supply continuity for production and warehouse teams.

Internal Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication

  • Work closely with internal warehouse and production teams at Neuss to ensure seamless goods receipt processes and continuous material availability.
  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely shipment status communications to procurement, production planning, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Participate in cross-functional planning meetings to align supply chain activities with production schedules and commercial commitments.
  • Share market intelligence and logistics insights with wider supply chain and procurement teams to support continuous improvement efforts.

Process Optimisation & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, shorten lead times, and improve compliance performance across the inbound supply chain process.
  • Apply advanced Excel skills to build, maintain, and improve supply chain tracking, reporting, and performance analysis tools.
  • Leverage ERP systems effectively to manage order flows, monitor inventory levels, and generate accurate operational reports.
  • Contribute actively to supply chain improvement projects and share best practices within Bunge’s international supply chain community.

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, International Trade, or a closely related discipline.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant professional training and demonstrated practical experience will also be considered by the hiring team.

Experience Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant and progressive professional experience in supply chain management, inbound logistics, import coordination, or commodity operations.
  • Proven experience working within a multinational, cross-functional business environment — exposure to agribusiness, food, or commodity sectors is a strong advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems for order management, inventory tracking, and operational reporting in a fast-paced supply chain environment.

Essential Skills

  • Fluent German and English language skills — both oral and written — at a professional business level are a firm requirement for this position.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency for supply chain data management, forecasting, and performance tracking and reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving ability combined with a proactive, self-motivated working style and genuine curiosity for continuous learning.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and results-oriented with strong decision-making confidence and the resilience to work effectively under pressure.
