Position Overview
This Supply Chain Specialist role involves leading the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process for MOTUL’s premium lubricants business at their modern Cologne headquarters. You will take responsibility for creating and maintaining advanced forecast models using statistical methods and data-based scenario analyses, develop and track supply chain KPIs including service level, forecast accuracy and inventory coverage, conduct complex end-to-end data analyses across the full supply chain, create impactful Power BI dashboards for management decision-making, optimize planning processes in close cross-functional collaboration, and identify and implement process improvements through digitalization and automation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
Sales & Operations PlanningLeadership
- Take full responsibility for the S&OP process with focus on sales, inventory, and production planning
- Coordinate monthly S&OP cycles aligning cross-functional stakeholders across departments
- Drive data-informed decisions within S&OP framework ensuring supply and demand balance
- Present S&OP outputs and recommendations clearly to senior management and operations leadership
Forecast Modelling & Statistical Analysis
- Create, maintain, and continuously develop forecast models using statistical and quantitative methods
- Build data-based scenario analyses supporting proactive supply chain risk management
- Apply advanced forecasting techniques to improve demand signal accuracy and reduce variability
- Validate forecast outputs regularly against actuals and refine models for ongoing improvement
Supply Chain KPI Development & Reporting
- Develop and maintain comprehensive supply chain KPIs including service level, forecast accuracy, and inventory coverage
- Create actionable, data-based recommendations for management based on KPI performance analysis
- Build executive-ready Power BI dashboards and Excel Advanced reports for management decisions
- Monitor KPI trends identifying deterioration early and triggering corrective action planning
End-to-End Data Analytics
- Conduct complex data analyses spanning the full end-to-end supply chain from demand through delivery
- Analyze demand patterns, inventory levels, product availability, and capacity constraints simultaneously
- Translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for cross-functional teams
- Support strategic planning decisions with rigorous quantitative analysis and scenario modeling
Cross-Functional Planning Process Optimization
- Optimize planning processes in close collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations
- Identify inefficiencies in current planning workflows and design improved process solutions
- Coordinate cross-functional improvement projects with focus on process design, tools, and analytics
- Ensure alignment between commercial plans and operational supply chain capabilities at all times
Digitalization & Automation Initiatives
- Identify and implement process improvements within framework of supply chain digitalization initiatives
- Lead or support automation projects improving planning efficiency and data quality outcomes
- Evaluate and implement new digital planning tools and system enhancements as required
- Drive innovation mindset within the Supply Chain team aligned with MOTUL’s future-oriented vision
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Completed university degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Data Analytics, or Industrial Engineering
- Comparable analytical or business degree with strong quantitative and supply chain focus accepted
- Postgraduate qualification in supply chain, data science, or operations management advantageous
Experience Requirements
- At least 3–5 years of professional experience in demand planning, S&OP, supply chain controlling, or analytics
- Solid, proven knowledge of forecasting methods, statistical models, and inventory optimization techniques
- Track record delivering measurable improvements in forecast accuracy or supply chain KPI performance
- Experience working collaboratively with Sales, Finance, and Operations in cross-functional S&OP environment
Technical Skills
- Strong data affinity with hands-on Power BI experience for dashboard creation and management reporting
- Experience with SAP APO/IBP or comparable advanced planning systems (Essential technical skill)
- Advanced Excel proficiency including complex modelling, scenario analysis, and data manipulation
- Familiarity with statistical forecasting tools and data visualization best practices
Analytical & Personal Competencies
- Excellent analytical skills combined with structured, systematic thinking and strong process understanding
- Proactive, solution-oriented work style with ability to explain complex models to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English for cross-functional team collaboration
