Position Overview
This Quality Specialist role at Amazon’s MENA Ultra-Fast Grocery business in Dubai is a high-visibility, operationally critical position responsible for upholding Amazon’s exacting quality standards across all fresh and perishable product categories. The successful candidate will conduct daily quality reviews of Meat, Seafood, Fruits, Vegetables, Eggs, and other perishable items during inbound processes at Amazon stores and hubs, reject damaged or defective items, audit picking and packing quality, monitor packaging standards, and train associates on quality SOPs. Beyond day-to-day inspections, the role demands active participation in process improvement initiatives, stakeholder meetings, and weekly reporting. Key Responsibilities
Inbound Quality Inspection — Stores, Hubs & Vendor Sites
- Review and assess the quality of Meat, Seafood, Fruits, Vegetables, Eggs, and all perishable items during Amazon inbound processes
- Conduct quality inspections at Amazon stores, fulfilment hubs, and direct vendor sites across Dubai on a daily basis
- Reject damaged, defective, or below-standard items back to vendors and document all rejections accurately by item and by vendor
- Record quantity and reason for all rejected items ensuring data accuracy for vendor performance tracking and reporting
Picking, Packing & Packaging Quality Audits
- Audit the quality of the picking and packing process performed by LPC associates to ensure product integrity is maintained
- Monitor packaging standards continuously during packing operations — identifying and flagging non-conformances immediately
- Perform daily bin audits and compile comprehensive daily and weekly quality reports for distribution to key stakeholders
- Identify recurring packaging and picking quality issues and recommend corrective actions and process improvements
Training & Quality SOP Development
- Train store associates and hub team members on quality standards, SOPs, packaging procedures, and food safety best practices
- Ensure all associates are equipped with the knowledge to consistently meet Amazon’s high quality bar for fresh categories
- Develop, update, and communicate quality SOPs and training materials tailored to fresh and perishable product handling
- Support onboarding of new associates on quality inspection protocols, rejection procedures, and food safety compliance
Process Improvement & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Proactively identify and drive process improvement initiatives to reduce damage, expiry, and quality failures across fresh categories
- Actively participate in stakeholder meetings with instock managers, vendor managers, store operations, and fulfilment partners
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve customer satisfaction metrics and buying efficiency for fresh produce
- Contribute to automation and reporting improvement projects that enhance quality monitoring and data visibility across the UFG operation
Reporting, Data Accuracy & Vendor Performance
- Prepare and share accurate daily and weekly quality reports with all relevant internal stakeholders on time and without exception
- Maintain meticulous records of all inspection outcomes, rejections, audits, and corrective actions across all Amazon locations
- Track vendor quality performance trends and communicate findings to vendor managers to support supplier improvement discussions
- Use MS Excel and related tools to manage quality data, analyse trends, and generate actionable insights for the UFG team
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Quality Management, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to communicate with technical, business, and executive stakeholders
Certifications Required
- HACCP certification is a firm requirement for this quality specialist role
- PIC 3 (Person In Charge) certification — issued by Dubai Municipality — is required for this position
- ISO 22000 food safety management system knowledge and GMP understanding are required
- Familiarity with Dubai fruit and vegetable quality specifications and the Al Aweer Central Fruit Market is strongly preferred
