Position Overview

The Agronomy Operations Supervisor at Top Ag Cooperative in Pierron, Illinois is a full-time exempt leadership role at the heart of the cooperative’s field operations. You will be responsible for leading and developing a team of custom field applicators, tender drivers, and agronomy staff — while overseeing inventory control, equipment and facility maintenance, and regulatory compliance across OSHA, EPA, and DOT standards. Working closely with the Agronomy Manager and Logistics Coordinator, you will keep operations running safely, efficiently, and productively through every busy agricultural season. Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, develop, coach, and hold accountable a team of custom field applicators, tender drivers, and agronomy operations staff
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate team scheduling and staffing to ensure adequate coverage throughout all production seasons

Inventory Management & Equipment Oversight

  • Oversee inventory management of crop inputs, chemical products, and operational supplies across the Pierron facility
  • Monitor equipment condition and coordinate preventive maintenance and repair of agronomy application equipment and facility assets
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of all agricultural chemicals and hazardous materials in compliance with regulations

Regulatory Compliance — OSHA, EPA & DOT

  • Ensure full operational compliance with OSHA workplace safety standards, EPA environmental regulations, and DOT transportation requirements
  • Maintain accurate regulatory documentation and records for all agronomy operations and chemical applications
  • Promote a strong safety culture across the team, including safe handling of chemicals and operation of heavy agricultural equipment

Operational Coordination & Seasonal Planning

  • Partner closely with the Agronomy Manager and Logistics Coordinator to plan and execute seasonal agronomy operations efficiently
  • Coordinate field application scheduling, equipment deployment, and logistics to meet customer and cooperative demands on time
  • Anticipate seasonal operational needs and proactively address staffing, equipment, and inventory challenges before they impact service delivery

Facility & Safety Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operational readiness of the Pierron agronomy facility and related assets
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and lead incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action processes
  • Ensure the facility meets all cooperative, state, and federal standards for agricultural chemical storage and handling

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Plant and Soil Science, or a closely related field (required)
  • Experience: 5 or more years of agronomy operations experience with demonstrated field knowledge (required)
  • Supervisory Experience: Prior team leadership or supervisory experience in an agronomy or agricultural operations setting is strongly preferred
  • CDL with HazMat Endorsement: Commercial Driver’s License with HazMat endorsement is preferred for this role
  • Illinois Commercial Applicator License: Preferred; candidates actively working toward licensure will also be considered
  • Leadership & Communication: Proven ability to lead teams, communicate clearly, and drive accountability in a hands-on environment
  • Organizational Skills: Strong capacity to manage multiple priorities, coordinate logistics, and maintain accurate records across busy seasons
  • Compliance Knowledge: Working understanding of OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations as they apply to agricultural operations
