Position Overview
This Food Safety Auditor position at SGS Dubai is a full-time role combining office-based coordination with regular onsite client audit activities across the UAE. You will be responsible for conducting precise, comprehensive food safety audits in line with client management system requirements, delivering training to new auditors and clients, reporting performance deviations to the Operations Manager, managing the Profiler database, and supporting risk management and HSE compliance initiatives. The role also includes acting as Deputy Technical In-Charge for applicable certification schemes, performing inspections and damage surveys, and driving root cause analysis for client claims. With a minimum of three years of food safety auditing experience and a university degree or equivalent, this is a senior technical role for a polished auditing professional who is ready to represent SGS’s global standards of excellence in Dubai’s dynamic food safety and certification sector.

Key Responsibilities
Onsite Audits & Client Compliance
- Conduct timely and accurate onsite food safety audits for clients across the UAE in accordance with applicable management system standards and requirements
- Prepare comprehensive, accurate, and professionally structured audit files and reports covering all findings, non-conformances, and recommended corrective actions
- Verify client management system requirements and ensure full compliance with applicable food safety certification scheme standards
- Act as Deputy Technical In-Charge for applicable certification schemes, ensuring technical standards are consistently upheld during audit activities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections and damage surveys as required by client contracts and operational needs
Auditor Training & Team Development
- Train new auditors and back-office coordinators, assess trainee competence, and formally qualify candidates for auditor roles
- Review and interpret new client requirements and develop and deliver tailored training sessions for the auditor team accordingly
- Communicate updated office policies, new certification scheme requirements, and procedural changes to auditors in a clear, structured manner
- Foster a collaborative and supportive team culture among auditors and back-office coordinators across all SGS Dubai operations
KPI Management & Operational Reporting
- Achieve all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relevant to the Food Safety Auditor role with a focus on optimizing resource efficiency during audit execution
- Report to the Operations Manager any deviations in job processing or execution, including issues impacting administrative, operational, or financial performance
- Monitor business trends across assigned client sectors and support budget forecasting activities for the food safety audit division
- Consolidate auditor inputs and maintain and update the Profiler database, ensuring relevant technical information is shared with the Technical Manager for evaluation
Client Support, Root Cause Analysis & Complaints
- Provide technical and operational support to clients by addressing their specific audit requirements and integrating them effectively into the audit coordination process
- Conduct structured root cause analysis for all client claims and complaints related to audit scheduling and execution, and implement corrective measures
- Review completed audit reports and sample analysis reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with SGS quality standards before client delivery
- Promote and actively monitor effective risk management practices across all client-facing food safety audit activities
HSE Compliance & Safety Management
- Maintain, update, and enforce HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures in all daily operational activities
- Ensure full implementation of HSE requirements across all audit and inspection activities conducted on client premises
- Halt any activity deemed unsafe and immediately intervene in cases involving unsafe acts, conditions, or practices in the field or office
- Serve as a role model for safety culture within the SGS Dubai food safety team and among newly trained auditors
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- University degree or equivalent professional qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Quality Management, or a related field
- Recognized auditor certification in food safety management systems (such as ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC, or HACCP-based schemes) is strongly preferred
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of direct work experience as a food safety auditor in a recognized certification, inspection, or food industry quality role
- Strong technical knowledge of auditing procedures, audit classification, food safety management system requirements, and compliance evaluation methodologies
- Prior experience in a formal auditing services environment — whether in TIC, food manufacturing, restaurant, or regulatory sectors — is a significant advantage

- Comprehensive knowledge of food safety auditing methodologies, management system standards, and international certification scheme requirements
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for root cause analysis, audit report preparation, and KPI performance assessment
