Position Overview
As a Food Quality Lab Officer at GMG Gulf’s Farm Fresh division in Dubai, you will sit at the heart of the company’s food quality assurance operations — operating laboratory instruments with precision, executing microbiological and chemical testing protocols on food products, maintaining meticulous compliance with safety regulations, and ensuring that every product leaving the facility meets the highest quality standards expected by consumers and regulatory authorities alike.

Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Instrument Operation
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain a range of laboratory instruments used in food quality testing — ensuring all equipment is functioning accurately and within validated performance parameters at all times.
- Follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for instrument use, cleaning, calibration verification, and maintenance scheduling within the Farm Fresh QA laboratory.
- Accurately record all instrument readings, calibration results, and maintenance activities in the laboratory management system to support full traceability and audit readiness.
Microbiological Testing
- Conduct microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished food products — including bacterial count analysis, pathogen detection, yeast and mould testing, and environmental swabbing.
- Prepare microbiological growth media, culture samples using correct aseptic techniques, and interpret results accurately against established food safety acceptance criteria.
- Report microbiological test results clearly and promptly, flagging any out-of-specification results to the QA supervisor for immediate corrective action.
Chemical Testing & Analysis
- Perform chemical analysis on food products — including pH measurement, moisture content, fat and protein analysis, acidity titration, preservative testing, and other parameters specific to the Farm Fresh product portfolio.
- Ensure all chemical testing is carried out using approved methods aligned with UAE food regulations, Dubai Municipality standards, and international food quality benchmarks.
- Maintain accurate test records for all chemical analyses, supporting product release decisions and quality trend monitoring across the production cycle.
Compliance & Quality Standards Maintenance
- Maintain full compliance with all applicable food safety regulations, laboratory safety protocols, and workplace health and safety requirements throughout daily laboratory operations.
- Support internal and external quality audits by maintaining organised, complete, and accurate laboratory documentation — including test records, calibration logs, reagent registers, and SOPs.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the QA laboratory, identifying opportunities to enhance testing efficiency, data accuracy, or compliance robustness.
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline from a recognised university — this is a mandatory qualification for all applicants.
- Additional certifications in food safety, laboratory management, or quality assurance (such as HACCP, ISO 17025, or food hygiene qualifications) are a valuable professional advantage.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3–4 years of hands-on laboratory experience within the food industry — specifically covering microbiological and/or chemical food testing in a production or quality assurance environment.
- Demonstrated practical experience operating food quality testing instruments, preparing samples, and interpreting analytical results against food safety specifications.
- Prior experience working within a food production company, food testing laboratory, or FMCG quality assurance team in the UAE or GCC region is a significant advantage.
Essential Skills
- Strong technical knowledge of microbiological testing methods and chemical analysis procedures used in food quality laboratories.
- Meticulous attention to detail in sample handling, data recording, and result interpretation — with zero tolerance for inaccuracy in food safety testing environments.
