Position Overview

The Mechanical Supervisor at Egis will provide direct oversight of mechanical maintenance personnel at a nuclear power plant in Abu Dhabi. This role is responsible for implementing, controlling, and reporting on the full mechanical maintenance programme — covering predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance, surveillance activities, and periodic testing. The successful candidate will bring a minimum of 7 years of nuclear industry experience, a thorough understanding of nuclear power plant mechanical systems, and the technical discipline to operate within strict regulatory, quality, and safety frameworks including FANR, WANO, INPO, and IAEA requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Programme Delivery

  • Oversee and directly supervise mechanical maintenance personnel implementing the plant’s full maintenance programme
  • Execute all job duties in strict accordance with conduct of maintenance standards for nuclear power plant operations
  • Perform predictive, preventive, corrective maintenance, surveillance, and periodic testing to the highest safety standards
  • Oversee mechanical maintenance activities performed by contractors to ensure procedural compliance and quality work products

Regulatory & Quality Assurance Compliance

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) audit processes
  • Support periodic evaluations by WANO, INPO, and IAEA — capturing lessons learned for organisational improvement
  • Execute technical review of maintenance process and procedure changes ensuring alignment to regulatory best practices
  • Participate in technical review of operating licence documents to ensure safe, compliant plant operations throughout

Programme & Procedure Development

  • Develop and review mechanical maintenance procedures to ensure reliable and safe nuclear plant operations
  • Assist with developing mechanical maintenance work instructions and model work orders for plant activities
  • Implement operating experience, training, and observation learnings into procedures and programmes as required
  • Continuously support PM programme data population, quality assessment, and operations management system accuracy

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement

  • Assist in executing troubleshooting processes on mechanical systems and equipment to ensure operational readiness
  • Participate in root cause analysis and apparent cause evaluations to resolve mechanical maintenance issues effectively
  • Execute maintenance improvement activities including self-assessments, corrective action programmes, and benchmarking
  • Support all necessary system testing — cold hydro, hot functional, power ascension, and performance tests

Outage & Emergency Response Support

  • Support planned outage activities and emergency response organisation as assigned by plant leadership
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and continued operations during both online and outage maintenance phases
  • Provide support and input for training development and execution aligned with nuclear maintenance strategies
  • Contribute to benchmark activities for equipment maintenance practices and ongoing organisational improvements

Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or institution
  • Advanced qualifications or nuclear industry-specific certifications are a strong advantage

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience working specifically within the nuclear power industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nuclear power plant maintenance and planning activities with a mechanical focus
