Position Overview
The Mechanical Engineer at NOV Dubai is a senior, independently managed engineering role focused on the technical integrity and quality of mechanical engineering activities across oil and gas projects. You will execute static equipment design, prepare mechanical datasheets and material requisitions, conduct feasibility studies, engineering calculations, and detailed design reviews using tools such as PV-Elite, Compress, and TANK. You will interface with Process, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines, coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, support procurement activities, and ensure full compliance with ASME, API, TEMA, and other applicable international codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Engineering & Design
- Ensure technical integrity and quality of all assigned mechanical engineering activities in compliance with company procedures, standards, and applicable regulations
- Review engineering designs, drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation across project lifecycle
- Prepare mechanical datasheets, material requisitions, and detailed technical bid evaluations
- Perform feasibility studies, engineering analysis, design calculations, and detailed engineering activities for static equipment including pressure vessels and heat exchangers
- Apply pressure vessel design software including PV-Elite, Compress, and TANK with confidence and accuracy
- Conduct and review FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for complex equipment design challenges
Standards, Codes & Compliance
- Apply international mechanical codes and standards including ASME SEC.VIII DIV.1/DIV.2, TEMA, PD5500, API 650, API 660, API 661, and rotary equipment standards
- Handle materials of construction including CS, LTCS, SS, CS+Clad, LAS, HAS, NACE MR0175, and HIC for applications from hot service to cryogenic conditions
- Manage special service applications including Hydrogen, Lethal, Wet Sour, Cyclic, and Sea Water environments
- Ensure full compliance with HSEQ requirements and promptly report any non-conformities identified on projects
Project Management & Coordination
- Independently manage and deliver assigned engineering work and project activities within schedule and budget parameters
- Prepare deliverable lists, schedules, man-hour estimates, resource requirement plans, and progress reports
- Monitor fast-track projects closely and consistently meet project deadlines through proactive coordination
- Report project progress and technical challenges to Lead Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Project Managers
- Manage budgets, resource planning, deployment, and utilisation for assigned engineering activities
Vendor, Procurement & Multi-Discipline Interface
- Coordinate and interface with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors on technical matters and procurement activities
- Support procurement with technical clarifications, vendor offer evaluations, TQ raising, and post-order document reviews
- Participate in supplier tender processes including scope development, tender evaluation, and clarification activities
- Maintain strong interface knowledge with Process, Piping, Electrical, and Instrumentation disciplines
Team Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Train, mentor, and support less experienced engineering personnel to build team capability
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities across the engineering department
- Standardise design procedures, review checklists, and develop design guidelines for the team
- Pursue continuous professional development within mechanical engineering discipline and area of expertise
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification from a recognised university
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering within the oil and gas industry — upstream and downstream
- Proven technical expertise in static equipment engineering with hands-on skills in PV-Elite, Compress, TANK, and FEA software
- Demonstrated experience in layout development, skid-based design, and multi-discipline engineering coordination
Essential Skills
- Excellent communication, people management, analytical, and coordination skills across multi-discipline project teams
- Strong knowledge of international mechanical codes: ASME, API, TEMA, PD5500, and rotary equipment standards
