Position Overview

As a Supply Chain Consultant at Lidl’s international headquarters in Neckarsulm, you will serve as the central bridge between business operations and data-driven technology — identifying optimization potential within Lidl’s global supply chains and translating complex business logic into intelligent, scalable solutions. Working at the cutting edge of AI-supported supply chain management, you will run process and requirements workshops with specialist departments, design data architectures, lead test protocol creation, and develop training programmes for super-users and end-users. This is a rare opportunity to shape how one of Europe’s largest retailers uses AI and advanced analytics to transform its international logistics network from the inside out.

Why This Role Matters: As Supply Chain Consultant at Lidl, you are not just a logistics advisor — you are an architect of the AI-driven future of international retail supply chains. Every bottleneck you resolve, every AI application you design, and every cross-functional training you deliver directly enhances the efficiency and resilience of a supply chain that serves millions of customers across multiple countries every single day. If you want your expertise in supply chain, data analytics, and AI optimization to make a truly global impact, this is the role that delivers it.

 Key Responsibilities

AI-Driven Supply Chain Identification & Optimization

  • Identify operational challenges and AI-supported optimization potential within the supply chain through close process and requirements workshops with specialist departments
  • Proactively resolve logistical bottlenecks in Lidl’s international supply chain network, leveraging data-driven methods and AI tools
  • Continuously monitor global supply chain performance to spot inefficiencies, risks, and high-impact improvement opportunities before they escalate
  • Develop and validate AI-supported optimization approaches that deliver measurable added value across Lidl’s international logistics operations

Business Logic Translation & AI Application Design

  • Translate complex business logic and process insights into intelligent, data-driven approaches using generative AI, mathematical models, and optimization algorithms
  • Act as the central bridge between specialist business departments and IT implementation teams — ensuring requirements are clearly documented and technically actionable
  • Contribute actively to the design of the international system and control architecture — covering data sources, analytics layers, and user interfaces
  • Prepare structured, precise IT requirements that enable colleagues to implement solutions efficiently, accurately, and on schedule

Test Case Design & Quality Assurance

  • Define, create, and implement — ideally automated — test cases and test protocols for new supply chain workflows in close collaboration with interface teams
  • Ensure the quality, completeness, and technical robustness of all testing activities across new AI and data-driven supply chain solutions
  • Identify and escalate defects, gaps, or unexpected behaviours during testing, coordinating resolution with IT and specialist teams efficiently
  • Document test outcomes and maintain clear records of all validation activities for project transparency and future audit trails

Cross-Functional Standardization, Training & Project Success

  • Drive project success through cross-functional standardization of supply chain processes across multiple specialist and IT teams globally
  • Design and deliver comprehensive training programmes for super-users and end-users to ensure confident, effective adoption of new workflows and systems
  • Facilitate clear, productive communication at the direct interface between different specialist departments and IT implementation teams
  • Promote a collaborative, knowledge-sharing culture that sustains continuous improvement across Lidl’s international supply chain operations

Your Profile — Qualifications & Requirements

Educational Requirements

  • Successfully completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a comparable qualification
  • Additional qualifications in supply chain management, logistics, or AI/data science are considered a strong advantage

Experience Requirements

  • Several years of professional experience in supply chain management, logistics, solutions consulting, or a comparable interface function at the border with data and AI
  • In-depth process knowledge in the supply chain and logistics domain — ideally rooted in a large-scale retail or FMCG environment
  • Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into clear, technically sound concepts as a solid foundation for IT implementation

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Exceptional translation skills and genuine enthusiasm for bridging business operations and data-driven, AI-powered technical solutions
  • Excellent communication skills at eye level — with a strong cooperative mindset at the direct interface between specialist and IT teams
  • Fluent English skills for smooth collaboration in an international, multicultural context — additional languages are a welcome plus
  • Willingness and availability to be present on-site at Neckarsulm HQ at least 3 days per week for effective cross-functional collaboration
