Position Overview
This Supply Chain Manager position at Baumer’s Berlin site is a strategically important role focused on purchasing and procurement excellence. You will take ownership of supplier search and development, lead price and delivery negotiations, manage individual and framework contracts, and control the optimization of Baumer’s end-to-end supply chain. Working closely with suppliers, logistics partners, and internal departments, you will apply strong analytical thinking, SAP S4HANA expertise, and hands-on supply chain knowledge to keep production processes running smoothly and efficiently across one of Germany’s most innovative manufacturing sites.

Key Responsibilities
Supplier Management & Negotiation
- Search, select, and develop suppliers aligned with Baumer’s quality, cost, and delivery standards
- Conduct and successfully conclude price and delivery term negotiations — both individual and annual negotiations
- Create and trigger individual orders as well as framework and quantity contracts with strategic suppliers
- Build and maintain strong, long-term supplier relationships that support Baumer’s manufacturing excellence goals
Supply Chain Control & Optimization
- Control and continuously optimize the entire supply chain from procurement through to delivery at the Berlin production site
- Analyze inventory levels, demand patterns, and material flows to identify improvement opportunities and reduce waste
- Implement targeted process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce lead times, and support sustainability objectives
- Monitor key supply chain KPIs and derive concrete action recommendations to ensure ongoing performance improvement
Procurement & Production Planning
- Plan and monitor procurement and production processes to ensure uninterrupted supply for Baumer’s Berlin manufacturing operations
- Coordinate closely with internal departments including production, logistics, and quality to align supply chain activities
- Manage demand planning activities to align material availability with production schedules and customer delivery requirements
- Support capacity planning and resource allocation through accurate procurement forecasting and inventory management
Cross-Functional Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with suppliers, external logistics partners, and internal departments to ensure smooth supply chain operations
- Serve as the central interface between purchasing, production planning, and logistics functions at the Berlin site
- Lead interdepartmental communication with a structured, solution-focused approach to resolving supply chain challenges
- Contribute to a collaborative on-site work culture that values direct communication, team spirit, and fast decision-making
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Completed degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a comparable academic qualification
- Additional qualifications in supply chain management, logistics, or procurement are an advantage
Experience Requirements
- Several years of professional experience in supply chain management, logistics, or production environments
- Initial management experience in leading teams or projects within a supply chain or purchasing function
- Solid knowledge of process optimization, production planning, and inventory management principles and methodologies
- Proven experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments is strongly preferred
Technical & Analytical Skills
- Very good working knowledge of ERP systems — SAP S4HANA experience is essential for this role
- Confident handling of data analysis tools including Excel and BI reporting tools for supply chain performance tracking
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to evaluate complex supply chain interdependencies
- Assertiveness and a hands-on, get-things-done mentality with excellent organizational and structured working approach
