Position Overview
The Crop Protection Sales Representative role at Syngenta covers the Western New York and Western Pennsylvania territory, with Rochester, NY and State College, PA serving as optimal support locations. This field-based sales role is responsible for achieving sales, profit, and market share targets across channel partners, key producers, and customers, while serving as the primary liaison for retail accounts and developing annual business plans that influence end-user demand throughout the territory.

Key Responsibilities
Sales Performance & Territory Management
- Achieve sales, profit, and market share targets with channel partners, key producers, and other customers within the assigned territory
- Support the overall sales and marketing plan for the district and broader Commercial Unit
Relationship Building & Channel Partnership
- Develop and maintain strong, trusted relationships with customers throughout the assigned territory
- Act as the primary liaison for all channel partners and retail accounts, developing and implementing annual business plans to influence end-user demand
- Partner with Seed Care and AgriEdge Specialists to identify and develop new territory opportunities
Demand Generation & Field Events
- Create demand at the customer level, ensuring customers are knowledgeable about Syngenta products and remain interested in further solutions
- Take responsibility for trade shows, tours, and product launches for crop protection within the assigned territory
Stewardship, Budget & Field Support
- Act as a steward of the Syngenta portfolio by making recommendations and managing complaints or issues in the field, in partnership with Agronomy
- Manage operational budget, variable selling expenses, and marketing funds in line with Commercial Unit and District guidelines
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Agriculture, Marketing, and/or Science
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in agronomy, farm, and/or retail within the crop protection or seed industry
- Up to 75% weekly travel within the territory is required for this role
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship support from Syngenta
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
Desired Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of agronomics, general cropping practices, agricultural technology and trends, and pest control requirements
- Strong technical knowledge of Syngenta and competitive crop protection products
- Demonstrated ability to build meaningful, impactful relationships with customers and internal colleagues through excellent communication
- Solid business acumen with the ability to understand business financials and price/volume relationships
- Strong negotiating, analytical, and problem-solving / decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently with strong planning, organization, and time management capabilities
