Position Overview
The Agronomy Sales Specialist at AGRILAND FS in Griswold, Iowa combines sales consultancy with hands-on agronomy expertise, helping farmers across the region make better decisions for their entire acre. You will purposely schedule in-person meetings with farmers, develop deep professional relationships, learn and solve real agronomy challenges, and grow into a trusted consultant through AGRILAND FS’s structured training and development programs — all while working with seed, fertilizer, crop protection, and precision farming technology.

Key Responsibilities
Farmer Relationship Development
- Purposely schedule in-person meetings with farmers to develop strong, trust-based professional relationships
- Take time to genuinely learn each customer’s unique agronomy needs across their entire farming operation
- Build a reputation as a knowledgeable, reliable, and community-respected agronomy sales consultant in the region
- Maintain consistent, proactive communication with farmers to support long-term loyalty and business growth
Agronomy Consulting & Problem Solving
- Develop strong agronomy skills through hands-on experience, mentorship, and structured AGRILAND FS training programs
- Actively pursue opportunities to identify and solve business and agronomy challenges faced by farming customers
- Provide expert recommendations across seed selection, fertilizer programs, crop protection, and precision farming technology
- Stay current on agronomic best practices and emerging precision agriculture tools to better serve customer needs
Operational Support & Leadership
- Assist operations with leadership, scheduling, and consistent follow-up with customers throughout the growing season
- Support seamless coordination between sales, operations, and agronomy teams to ensure excellent customer service
- Demonstrate examples of influencing others through leadership or sales relationships within the AGRILAND FS team
- Work flexible hours beyond the standard schedule when needed to meet and exceed customer expectations
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Minimum of a two or four-year degree, or equivalent experience in sales or an agriculture-related industry
Experience & Skills Requirements
- Strong agricultural aptitude with a demonstrated ability to learn quickly on the job and become a subject matter expert
- Proven examples of influencing others, either through leadership experience or established sales relationships
- Strong business skills including collaboration, clear communication, customer focus, and solid decision-making abilities
- Willingness to work hours beyond the standard schedule to meet and exceed customer needs during peak seasons
- Genuine exposure to or passion for rural culture and agriculture is highly valued for long-term success in this role
