Key Responsibilities
Applied ML Project Leadership — Ideation to Production
- Plan and execute large-group ML projects that carry through seamlessly from initial ideation and research exploration through to full production deployment at enterprise customer scale
- Bring cross-functional alignment across engineering, product, and other disciplines — ensuring ML projects are delivered with shared understanding, clear ownership, and organizational momentum
- Work closely with enterprise customers to rapidly understand their greatest business problems and translate those challenges into LLM-powered AI solutions with measurable commercial impact

Technical Direction & ML Strategy
- Set and execute clear technical direction for building new AI products or refining existing Cohere foundation models and enterprise AI platform capabilities

Qualifications & Requirements
Technical Skills
- Prior experience leading ML teams in applied research and production environments — with a track record of shipping enterprise AI solutions that deliver measurable business value
- Proficiency in Python and related ML frameworks — including TensorFlow, TF-Serving, JAX, and XLA/MLIR — with strong production ML engineering skills
- Experience using large-scale distributed training and inference — able to work with frontier model training pipelines and enterprise-grade ML infrastructure
- Prior experience setting and executing technical direction to build new or refine existing AI products within cross-functional, matrixed organizations
- Strong mentorship, communication, and problem-solving skills — able to lead and grow distributed engineering teams across geographies
