An offshore drilling operation is seeking an experienced MPD Operator to assist in the setup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) systems and equipment for onsite MPD applications. Position Overview
This MPD Operator role involves operating the MPD system for MPD applications, pressurized mud cap drilling and underbalanced drilling, monitoring the well to maintain planned operational limits within the influx management envelope, assisting with drilling, connections, formation integrity tests, logging and cementing, creating accurate daily and end-of-well reports, performing routine MPD calculations, and supporting equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and preservation.

Key Responsibilities
MPD System Operation
- Operate the MPD system for MPD applications, pressurized mud cap drilling and underbalanced drilling
- Provide operational guidance for the MPD system, riser joints, umbilical reels, control skids and manifolds
- Deploy running, retrieving and testing tools and other MPD-associated equipment
Well Monitoring & Drilling Support
- Monitor the well and ensure planned operational limits within the influx management envelope are maintained
- Assist with drilling, connections, dynamic formation integrity tests, logging and cementing during MPD sections
- Perform routine MPD calculations accurately
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Assist in setup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of MPD systems and equipment
- Assist with preservation and lubrication of MPD equipment in storage or not in use
- Perform maintenance, repair, upkeep, preventative maintenance and equipment overhaul as required
- Record maintenance activities and failure reporting in the electronic maintenance system
Reporting, Compliance & Safety
- Create accurate daily reports and assist with end-of-well reports
- Review OEM bulletins and well control equipment alerts, ensuring effective action plans
- Adhere to and participate in HSE policies and procedures
- Actively participate in DWOP, HAZID and training exercises
- Ensure all MPD operations are performed safely and within equipment limitations
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirements
- 3+ years of technical background in managed pressure drilling and support systems
- 2+ years of experience in managed pressure drilling operations
- Ability to operate below tension ring managed pressure drilling systems
- Familiarity with active control devices or rotary control devices
- Familiarity with hydraulic downhole models and current MPD technology and trends
Essential Skills
- Hydraulic, electronics and mechanical troubleshooting experience
- Understanding of mechanical equipment and machinery
