Key Responsibilities
Microbiological Testing & Analysis
- Perform and interpret microbiological tests and procedures including culture, bacterial identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability and timeliness of all test results in accordance with laboratory quality standards and clinical requirements.
- Handle and process infectious specimens safely and correctly, following all containment and safety protocols.
Laboratory Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate, maintain, calibrate and monitor laboratory instruments and equipment to ensure consistent, accurate performance.
- Report equipment malfunctions or performance deviations promptly and support troubleshooting procedures.
- Keep the microbiology laboratory workspace clean, organized and compliant with biosafety requirements at all times.
Quality Control & Documentation
- Support quality control and quality assurance activities within the microbiology laboratory, including internal audits and corrective actions.
- Maintain thorough, accurate and up-to-date documentation of all laboratory activities, test procedures and patient records.
