Position Overview
This Linear & Pivot Systems Technician role involves operating and supervising the performance of pivot and linear irrigation systems, performing regular inspections and preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical components including tower/span alignment, guidance alignment, and control box communication. You will repair or replace faulty parts, monitor and adjust irrigation schedules using automation tools and mobile devices, and maintain accurate maintenance and water usage records.

Key Responsibilities
Irrigation System Operation & Inspection
- Operate and supervise the performance of pivot and linear irrigation systems
- Perform regular inspections of irrigation equipment to detect and address potential issues
- Carry out preventive maintenance tasks including lubrication, cleaning, and part replacements
Troubleshooting & Repairs
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and mechanical issues, including tower/span and guidance alignment
- Work with tower and motor electrical boxes, collector rings, and manual panel configurations using multimeters and pentameters
- Repair or replace faulty parts, including U-joints, U pipes, drop hoses, sprinkler nozzles, and gear oil changes
Irrigation Scheduling & Compliance
- Monitor and adjust irrigation schedules based on weather, soil moisture, and crop needs using automation boxes and mobile devices
- Ensure compliance with water usage regulations and environmental guidelines
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and water usage data
- Work closely with farm management and agronomists to enhance irrigation efficiency
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in a related field
Experience Requirements
- 4–5 years of experience in a similar role
- Proven experience as an Irrigation Systems Technician or in a comparable position
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining pivot and linear irrigation systems
- Strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Expertise in irrigation scheduling and water management practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Physical capability for lifting, bending, and working in various weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
