Position Overview
This Maintenance Technician role involves responding to and attending guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance on kitchen and engine room tools and equipment, visually inspecting tools and machinery, identifying and operating shutoff valves and building utility disconnects, maintaining maintenance inventory, testing and diagnosing basic equipment and plumbing faults, and demonstrating basic knowledge across air conditioning, electrical, mechanical, plumbing and carpentry systems.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Repairs & Communication
- Respond to and attend guest repair requests
- Communicate with guests/customers to resolve maintenance issues
Preventive Maintenance & Equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen and engine room tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication
- Visually inspect tools, equipment or machinery
- Transport equipment (e.g., tools, radio)
- Identify, locate and operate all shutoff valves for equipment and all utility disconnect switches for buildings
- Maintain a maintenance inventory and request parts and supplies as needed
Technical Repairs & Multi-Trade Skills
- Demonstrate basic knowledge or aptitude to learn: air conditioning and refrigeration, electricity, mechanics, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finishing, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and general building management
- Perform surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and woodwork repairs, bulb and AC filter replacement
- Test, diagnose and perform basic repairs on plumbing, electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuums and internet devices
- Program televisions and perform general engineering maintenance and inventory tasks
- Perform repairs on indoor and outdoor gardens and outdoor irrigation systems
Safety & Communication
- Use the Lockout/Tagout system before performing maintenance work
- Communicate daily activities and issues to employees on other shifts using appropriate programs and standards
- Comply with all company safety policies and procedures; report maintenance problems, hazards, accidents or injuries
- Complete safety training and certifications; properly store flammable materials
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, or vocational/technical training preferred
Experience Requirements
- Experience in general maintenance, interior/exterior surface preparation and painting
- Experience in hotel engineering/maintenance is valued
- No supervisory experience required
Required License/Certification
- Valid driving licence
Essential Skills
- Basic computer skills, including HVAC system scheduling and temperature adjustments
- Ability to lift, move, carry, push, pull and place objects up to 50 lbs (4.5 kg) or more with assistance
- Ability to climb stairs, service ramps or ladders, and perform physical tasks like bending and reaching
- Clear, professional communication skills
