Position Overview
Sarwa’s tech team is looking to add a Backend Engineer to build out the platform. This role requires fleshing out APIs, data flows and pipelines, integrating with third-party services, and writing application and domain logic to create new features and extend existing ones, all while maintaining a clean code architecture that is readable, maintainable, and bug-free — building a platform used by thousands to manage their financial lives.

Key Responsibilities
Platform & Microservices Development
- Develop and maintain a microservice architecture spanning Investing, Trading, Account Management, and Funding
- Create services that scale to tens of thousands of clients
Project Ownership & Delivery
- Own and deliver software projects on time by working with stakeholders across product, tech, marketing, operations, and sales
- Help elaborate requirements, business logic, and solution scope
Quality & Architecture
- Create high-quality products through good architecture and algorithms that work now and scale for the future
- Ensure data consistency, manage complexity, and handle errors with robust, resilient systems
Testing & Continuous Improvement
- Test developed code with automated unit and integration tests
- Create tools and processes to help the team develop high-quality code faster
- Continuously learn and apply new practices and technologies, sharing learnings with the team
 Qualifications & Requirements
Essential Skills
- Strong experience with Python/Go and any backend framework (Django, GoLang, .Net, Laravel, Rails) in a production system with a sizable user base
- Strong problem-solving skills to build robust, maintainable, and scalable systems
- Strong fundamentals in backend architecture patterns, including databases, APIs, caching, and security practices
- Experience with microservices, domain-driven architecture, clean architecture, and event sourcing is a strong plus
- Excellent teamwork, written, and communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated ownership leading or participating in a project from infancy to production
