Position Overview
This Engineering Manager, UAE role leads and manages a team of engineers building AI-powered applications for UAE federal and local government clients, acting as the primary technical point of contact for government stakeholders. You will design, build, and optimize full stack AI applications end-to-end, develop LLM-powered applications and AI agents tailored to UAE government use cases, architect API integrations with government systems, represent Scale AI in executive briefings, and mentor engineers while shaping team culture and delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Team Leadership
- Lead and manage a team of engineers building AI-powered applications for UAE government clients
- Ensure high-quality delivery and strong client outcomes across all projects
- Mentor and grow engineers, building a culture of technical excellence and ownership
Government Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for UAE government stakeholders
- Build trusted relationships, lead discovery workshops, and present solutions at the executive level
- Represent Scale AI in client-facing settings, workshops, technical demos, and executive briefings
AI Application Development
- Design, build, and optimize full stack AI applications end-to-end, spanning data pipelines, ML model integration, APIs, and frontend delivery
- Develop and deploy LLM-powered applications, AI agents, and intelligent automation for UAE government use cases
- Architect and maintain robust API integrations between Scale’s platform and UAE government systems
Delivery Management & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, go-to-market, and government counterparts to translate requirements into scalable solutions
- Manage delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams, balancing velocity and quality
- Contribute to shaping team culture, engineering processes, and best practices
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience Requirements
- 6+ years of total software engineering experience, with a strong AI/ML and full stack background
- 3+ years of engineering leadership experience managing and growing high-performing technical teams
Technical Requirements
- Strong AI/ML engineering foundation with hands-on production experience building or deploying ML models and LLM-based applications
- Full stack engineering proficiency across backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and frontend interfaces
- Experience designing and integrating APIs at scale, including RESTful and AI/ML APIs
Client-Facing & Communication Skills
- Proven experience in a customer-facing or client-embedded engineering role, confident with government or enterprise clients
- Ability to turn complex government requirements into practical, scalable engineering solutions under delivery pressure
- Excellent communication and presentation skills tailored for senior government audiences
Regional Knowledge
- Familiarity with UAE government digital transformation priorities, including UAE Vision 2031 and national AI strategies
- Experience working in or with the UAE or broader GCC region
- Arabic language skills are a plus
