Position Overview
This Digital Content Specialist participates in the design, development, and maintenance of web-based applications and library tools, develops Python scripts to automate library tasks and enhance user experience, supports AI tool deployment including chatbots and automated service points, collaborates with librarians to implement AI-driven resource discovery and metadata enhancement, facilitates VR/AR immersive technology hardware and software, produces high-quality multimedia learning objects, delivers technical training to faculty and students, collects and analyses usage data from digital platforms, conducts usability testing, creates APIs and integrations between library systems, and ensures all digital tools comply with international accessibility standards and Universal Design principles.

Key Responsibilities

- Participate in the design, development, and maintenance of web-based applications and tools to facilitate library content delivery and operations
- Develop and implement scripts or applications using Python or R to automate library tasks, clean metadata, or enhance user experience
- Support digital projects from concept through completion — ensuring milestones for development, testing, and launch are met
- Explore open-source and commercial solutions for digital innovation, providing technical recommendations for adoption
AI & Emerging Technology Implementation
- Support the technical development and deployment of library AI tools — including chatbots and automated service points — through coding, testing, and knowledge base updates
- Collaborate with librarians to implement AI-driven approaches for resource discovery, metadata enhancement, and collection development
- Facilitate setup and maintenance of immersive technology hardware and software — VR headsets, AR applications, and interactive displays
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to library AI applications and digital hardware, ensuring high availability
Multimedia Production & Instructional Support
- Produce and edit high-quality multimedia learning objects — video, audio, and interactive modules — supporting library information and media literacy instruction
- Create comprehensive, user-friendly documentation for new digital tools to facilitate adoption

Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Digital Media, or Library Science
- Note: Non-Library Science degree holders must demonstrate equivalent experience in library or academic environments
- 4–6 years of experience in digital content management, library systems, web application support, or emerging technology implementation
- Prior professional experience in library operations, information organisation, or higher education technology support
- Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation; familiarity with APIs and data handling
- Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and XML for web development
- Proficiency with multimedia production tools — Adobe Premiere, Camtasia, and digital design software
- Comfort with operating and troubleshooting VR headsets, tablets, and interactive displays
Preferred & Desired Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with Generative AI tools (LLMs), prompt engineering, or immersive technologies (VR/AR) — strongly preferred
