Position Overview
The Lab Technician Quality – Flour at IFFCO UAE is a detailed, compliance-driven quality laboratory role at the heart of the Flour Business Unit’s quality management function. You will perform accurate analysis and quality inspection of all wheat, flour, and feed materials — from incoming raw materials through semi-finished and finished product stages — ensuring compliance with product safety, legality, and quality requirements. You will plan and execute GMP audits, maintain documents related to ISO 17025, HACCP, HALAL, and FSSC 22000, calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment, prepare flour and feed analysis reports, support shop floor inspections, and actively contribute to workplace health and safety under the EMIGRAIN risk management framework.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection, Analysis & Reporting
- Conduct accurate, timely quality inspection, chemical analysis, and test reporting of all raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished flour and feed products — ensuring all results are communicated clearly to relevant stakeholders in line with IFFCO’s quality plan
- Perform incoming packaging material inspection and reporting — verifying that all packaging materials received at the facility meet IFFCO’s defined specifications before release for use in production
- Conduct online process inspection of finished and semi-finished products across the production floor — reporting findings accurately and flagging deviations immediately to the relevant supervisor or manager
- Maintain comprehensive, accurate flour and feed analysis reports — ensuring all data is recorded, traceable, and retained in accordance with ISO 17025 document control requirements
GMP Audits & Standards Compliance
- Plan and execute GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) audits across the flour production facility — identifying non-conformances, documenting findings, and supporting the implementation of corrective actions
- Maintain all documents and records related to ISO 17025, HACCP, HALAL, and FSSC 22000 standards — ensuring document control, version management, and record retention are fully compliant at all times
- Adhere strictly to all company quality plans, completing all assigned analyses and shop floor inspections within defined timelines and performance KPIs
- Ensure all laboratory and quality activities comply fully with applicable UAE food safety regulations, HALAL certification requirements, and IFFCO’s internal quality standards
Equipment Calibration, Maintenance & Lab Housekeeping
- Use, maintain, and manage all assigned laboratory equipment — including routine calibration, repair coordination, and meticulous record-keeping — to ensure all instruments remain fit for purpose and traceable to relevant measurement standards
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and good order of all laboratory work areas at all times — ensuring the lab environment supports accurate testing, product safety, and ISO 17025 compliance
- Report any equipment malfunctions, calibration failures, or laboratory non-conformances to the Supervisor promptly and document all findings accurately in the relevant maintenance records
Health, Safety & Risk Management
- Assist Supervisors and Managers in identifying workplace hazards and participate actively in the assessment of risks associated with identified hazards across the flour milling and laboratory environment
- Be fully aware of and consistently follow EMIGRAIN-adopted risk management procedures when undertaking all assigned tasks and projects within the facility
- Report all incidents, near misses, and occupational health and safety concerns to Supervisors as soon as practicable — without undue delay — and in accordance with IFFCO’s safety reporting requirements
- Follow all reasonable safety directions from Supervisors and Managers, and never interfere with or misuse any device or equipment provided as part of a risk control measure
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Degree in Food Technology — or a closely related field such as Food Science, Agricultural Engineering, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in the flour milling industry, baking industry, or a chemical laboratory environment — with hands-on exposure to quality testing, analysis, and reporting
- Practical knowledge of quality management and laboratory testing applicable to wheat, flour, or feed products in an FMCG or agri-food production environment
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical knowledge of food quality laboratory techniques applicable to wheat, flour, and feed analysis in a flour milling environment
- Familiarity with ISO 17025, HACCP, FSSC 22000, and HALAL documentation and compliance requirements in a food manufacturing laboratory setting
- Accurate and detail-oriented approach to data recording, analysis reporting, and document management — zero tolerance for errors in product quality records
