Position Overview
The Horticultural Manager at Modern Floristry works closely with the Senior Plantscape team to lead training, continuing education and technique reinforcement for Plantscape Associates — growing and developing Plantscape Tech teams to execute high-quality installations, optimize care practices, recognize plant health and develop the aesthetic eye needed to ensure every installation always looks impeccably clean, healthy and polished. Day-to-day, this role includes managing and supervising horticultural staff, coordinating schedules and workflows, hosting and leading plant care training, developing continuing education modules and testing programs, and conducting on-site evaluations and account assessments to continually elevate project outcomes for Modern Floristry’s distinguished client base.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership, Training & Development
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Plantscape team to lead training, reinforce technique and drive continuing education for Plantscape Associates across all accounts and installations.
- Grow and develop Plantscape Tech teams — building their capabilities to execute installations, optimize plant care practices and recognize and respond to overall plant health issues proactively.
- Develop and maintain continuing education modules and a structured testing program — ensuring superior knowledge, consistent technique and high engagement levels across the horticultural team.
- Host and lead regular plant care training sessions — conducting on-site evaluations of accounts, assessing team performance and assisting with elevating project and installation outcomes.
- Manage, supervise and motivate horticultural staff — coordinating schedules, workflows and task delegation to ensure efficient, high-quality team operations across all client accounts.
Plant Care, Installation Quality & Aesthetic Standards
- Develop an aesthetic eye within the team — ensuring every plant installation always looks clean, healthy, polished and visually cohesive in alignment with Modern Floristry’s design standards and client expectations.
- Optimize plant care practices across accounts — including watering schedules, soil management, irrigation systems, lighting assessment and seasonal care adjustments for diverse plant species.
- Recognize plant health indicators — identifying signs of stress, disease, pest infestation or nutritional deficiency and implementing appropriate organic or sustainable corrective treatments.
- Apply and teach demonstrated expertise in organic pest management techniques — ensuring treatments are safe, environmentally responsible and effective for both plants and clients.
Project Management, Logistics & Client Relations
- Manage project timelines and budgets for horticultural installation and maintenance programs — coordinating logistics, maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, designers, vendors and internal team members — ensuring designs consistently meet client specifications and quality standards.
- Perform office and administrative duties alongside on-site plant care visits — maintaining accurate records, managing supplier communications and supporting project documentation requirements.
- Apply knowledge of sustainable and environmentally responsible horticultural practices across all client accounts — reflecting Modern Floristry’s commitment to artful, responsible plant stewardship.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- Relevant education or training in Horticulture, Botany, Landscape Design or a closely related field — equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
- Demonstrated expertise in horticulture — including plant care, soil and irrigation management, pest and disease identification and organic pest management techniques.
- Experience in event production, hospitality or high-end residential and commercial plant installations is a recognized plus for this role.
