Position Overview
The Crop Consultant at Nutrien Ag Solutions in Leoti, KS combines the expertise of an agronomic advisor with the drive of an agricultural sales professional to serve Kansas growers with the full-acre solutions they need to maximize yields and profitability. This professional develops new grower prospects, manages relationships with existing customers, prescribes agronomic solutions to crop challenges, promotes proprietary product brands, manages credit and accounts receivable and ensures every customer receives reliable, on-time product delivery backed by Nutrien’s world-class supply chain and technical support network.

Key Responsibilities
Agricultural Sales & Grower Relationship Management
- Develop new grower prospects and build relationships with existing customers — increasing agricultural inputs sales to meet and consistently exceed individual and branch sales goals.
- Manage sales activities with a focus on achieving profit margin goals across fertilizer, seed, chemical, custom application and precision ag service categories.
- Develop and implement targeted strategies to increase the sales and adoption of Nutrien’s proprietary product lines — including Loveland Products, Proven® Seed and Dyna-Gro® Seed.
- Assure customer satisfaction across all products and services — including on-time and accurate product delivery and consistent product quality that meets grower expectations.
Agronomic Consulting & Issue Resolution
- Consult with growers on agricultural challenges — diagnosing crop, soil and pest issues and prescribing the appropriate agronomic actions, products and application programs to resolve them effectively.
- Resolve issues associated with adverse product results — working with growers, the technical team and Nutrien’s agronomists to investigate root causes and identify corrective solutions.
- Stay current on agronomy best practices, crop protection technologies, seed varieties and precision agriculture innovations relevant to western Kansas and the broader Great Plains region.
Credit Management & Accounts Receivable
- Perform initial credit reviews of new and existing customers — assessing credit risk profiles and providing relevant financial information to the Credit Manager to determine appropriate credit limits.
- Collect outstanding accounts receivables from customers — managing payment timelines professionally and maintaining positive grower relationships while ensuring financial compliance.
- Maintain accurate customer account records and sales activity documentation using Microsoft Word, Excel and Nutrien’s internal systems and platforms.
What You’ll Bring — Requirements
Educational Background
- University degree preferred — in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, Business or a related field.
- In lieu of a degree: High School Diploma or equivalent plus 5+ years of demonstrated agriculture industry experience will be considered.
Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of experience using standard concepts, practices and procedures within the agriculture industry — including the application of agricultural chemicals and crop inputs.
- Sales experience in agricultural inputs, agronomy or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of crop production, soil science, fertilizer, chemical application and seed varieties relevant to Kansas and the Great Plains cropping systems.
