Position Overview
The Chemist at this Dubai laboratory is a hands-on technical role responsible for supporting all daily laboratory operations — from conducting rigorous chemical analysis and testing of soil and water samples and operating a range of laboratory instruments to maintaining precise records, preparing accurate technical reports, supporting ISO/IEC 17025:2017 compliance, managing LIMS data entry, assisting with equipment calibration and troubleshooting, and collaborating with laboratory team members to meet all testing requirements efficiently. The role demands exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical ability, and a genuine commitment to data accuracy and laboratory quality standards in a busy Dubai testing environment.
Why This Role Matters: As Chemist in this Dubai laboratory, your precise chemical analysis of soil and water samples directly informs critical decisions — from construction project site assessments and environmental compliance evaluations to water quality monitoring and contamination investigations. Your data accuracy, ISO 17025 compliance, and instrument calibration discipline are the foundation on which clients, regulators, and engineers rely when making decisions that affect infrastructure, public health, and environmental protection across the UAE.
Key Responsibilities
Chemical Analysis & Laboratory Testing
- Perform comprehensive chemical analysis and laboratory testing of soil and water samples — following validated testing methods, standard operating procedures, and ISO/IEC 17025:2017 quality requirements throughout all analytical activities
- Execute a full range of chemical, physical, and environmental test parameters on soil and water matrices — ensuring all analyses are performed with accuracy, reproducibility, and strict adherence to method-specific requirements and quality control protocols
- Interpret test results against specification limits, regulatory thresholds, and project-specific acceptance criteria — flagging anomalous results promptly and initiating appropriate investigation and re-testing procedures
Laboratory Instrument Operation & Maintenance
- Operate, maintain, and monitor a wide range of laboratory instruments and analytical equipment — including equipment commonly used in soil and water chemical analysis such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, conductivity meters, titration systems, and other analytical instrumentation
- Assist with equipment calibration, troubleshooting, and routine preventive maintenance activities — maintaining all laboratory instruments in optimal working condition and ensuring all calibration records are accurately documented and up to date
- Identify and report equipment performance issues, maintenance requirements, and calibration deviations promptly — supporting the Laboratory Manager in maintaining a safe, well-functioning, and fully accredited laboratory environment
Record Keeping, Reporting & Data Accuracy
- Record all test results accurately and completely in real time — maintaining laboratory worksheets, test records, chain-of-custody documents, and LIMS entries with the precision and traceability required by ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation standards
- Prepare clear, structured, and technically accurate laboratory reports for clients and internal stakeholders — presenting test results, methods used, quality control data, and any relevant technical observations in a professional and accessible format
- Maintain proper documentation and ensure complete data accuracy across all laboratory records — supporting audit readiness, client requests, and regulatory compliance verification at all times
Quality Control, ISO 17025 & LIMS Compliance
- Follow all laboratory procedures and quality control requirements rigorously — including blank analysis, duplicate testing, certified reference material checks, and control chart monitoring to ensure ongoing analytical performance within acceptable quality limits
- Support the laboratory’s full compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation requirements — contributing to internal audits, proficiency testing activities, corrective action processes, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain and update data in the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) — ensuring sample registration, test assignment, result entry, and report generation are completed accurately and on schedule for all active client samples
Team Collaboration & Laboratory Operations Support
- Collaborate effectively with laboratory team members to complete testing requirements efficiently — supporting workload prioritization, sample turnaround time commitments, and overall laboratory productivity targets
- Work independently on assigned test methods and sample sets when required — demonstrating the self-motivation, organizational discipline, and technical confidence needed to deliver accurate results without constant supervision
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory workspace — following all chemical safety procedures, waste disposal protocols, and personal protective equipment requirements at all times
Qualifications & Requirements
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Soil Science, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline
