Position Overview

This Agriculture Applicator role serves as a key component to all field applicating functions and daily terminal operations at CHS Inc. Under general supervision, you will prepare trucks and railcars for loading and unloading, operate heavy and light-duty machinery to move agricultural inputs, monitor inventory quality, deliver products such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, and feed, and maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment.

 Key Responsibilities

Field Application & Terminal Operations

  • Develop and maintain knowledge of commodities handled at the location
  • Comply with company policy and government regulations pertaining to commodities
  • Prepare trucks and railcars for loading and unloading, including sampling and hatch handling
  • Control and monitor all load out functions using automated scale/dump systems

Loading, Unloading & Equipment Operation

  • Load and unload agricultural inputs from railcars and trucks using heavy or light duty machinery
  • Operate loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile equipment
  • Deliver products such as fertilizer, chemical, seed, and feed to customer sites
  • Perform warehouse work including forklift operation and general maintenance

Maintenance, Quality & Housekeeping

  • Conduct and record daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance tasks, including lubrication of pumps and valves
  • Inspect in-use equipment for seeps and leaks
  • Monitor and maintain quality of inventory, including blended, bulk, or packaged product
  • Keep work areas clean and safe through sweeping, shoveling, power washing, and spill cleanup
  • Perform grounds maintenance including snow removal

Customer Service & Safety

  • Work with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Promptly report customer complaints, repair needs, or safety concerns to supervisor
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture, following all safety policies and procedures
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards, correcting unsafe actions or conditions

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Must meet minimum age requirement
  • 1+ years of experience in Operations and/or Business Operations

Additional Qualifications

  • Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile
  • Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons to meet business demands
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Agriculture experience preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 75 pounds
  • Ability to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, and bins
  • Ability to work in dust and adverse weather conditions and temperatures
