By handling grain commodities professionally, delivering farm inputs reliably, operating equipment safely and maintaining facility standards, you directly support local Minnesota farmers and ranchers while contributing to CHS’s mission of creating connections that empower agriculture from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

Grain Handling & Loading Operations

  • Prepare trucks and railcars for loading and unloading — including sampling, loosening large nuts, opening hatches and attaching or detaching flexible hoses as required.
  • Load and unload agricultural inputs from railcars and trucks using heavy and light-duty machinery and equipment, covering both bulk and packaged materials.
  • Control and monitor all load-out functions across the facility to ensure efficient, accurate and safe commodity movement at all times.
  • Understand and operate automated scale and dump systems used in grain receiving and load-out processes.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate machinery including loaders, conveyors, tractors, track mobile and forklifts to support daily facility operations and inventory management.
  • Conduct and accurately record daily, weekly and monthly maintenance tasks — including lubrication of pumps, valves and loading arms — to keep all equipment in proper working order.
  • Inspect in-use process equipment routinely, looking for seeps and leaks, and report repair or maintenance needs promptly to the supervisor.
  • Perform warehouse work including driving loader, loading and unloading inventory and general facility maintenance.

Product Delivery & Inventory Management

  • Deliver products including fertilizer, chemical, seed, feed and other agricultural inputs directly to customer sites in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor and maintain the quality of inventory — including blended, bulk and packaged products — to ensure product integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of all commodities handled at the location and comply with company policy and government regulations pertaining to those commodities.

Safety, Housekeeping & Compliance

  • Keep all work areas clean, orderly and safe at all times — conducting regular housekeeping duties such as sweeping, shoveling, power washing, scraping and spill clean-up.
  • Maintain and actively promote a strong safety culture across the facility, following all safety policies, procedures and regulations without exception.
  • Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct — or seek assistance in correcting — any unsafe actions or conditions immediately upon identification.
  • Perform grounds maintenance including snow removal as required throughout the Minnesota winter season.
  • Complete all appropriate record-keeping for maintenance, safety and operational activities as required by CHS policies.

Customer Service & Team Collaboration

  • Work with customers in a courteous, professional and helpful manner at all times — representing CHS values and the cooperative’s commitment to the farming community.
  • Promptly report any customer complaints, repair or maintenance needs, or safety concerns to the site supervisor for timely resolution.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned to ensure the facility operates smoothly and all customers receive excellent service throughout the season.

  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours during peak seasons — including harvest and spring planting — to meet business and customer demands.
