Job Overview
The Agronomy Operations Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily agronomy operations while ensuring safety, compliance, inventory accuracy, and customer satisfaction. This role combines field operations, people leadership, logistics planning, and equipment oversight, especially during the busy agricultural season.
The position reports directly to the Location Manager and works closely with Agronomy Sales, Dispatch, Transportation, Energy, Grain, and Retail teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Administration & Team Leadership
- Supervise Agronomy Operations employees and provide daily guidance and oversight
- Promote safe work practices and ensure compliance with established safety protocols
- Schedule and lead team meetings and individual performance discussions
- Assist with hiring, interviewing, coaching, and training new employees
- Review inventory reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with management
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and company policies
2. Agronomy Operations Management
- Manage inventory of dry & liquid fertilizers, lime, and NH3 products
- Operate and oversee automated Kahler bulk agronomy processing systems
- Coordinate loading and unloading of agronomy products per work orders
- Collaborate with dispatchers and managers to organize daily logistics plans
- Support filling and transportation of NH3 products and equipment
- Operate forklifts, loaders, fertilizer tenders, and agronomy equipment
3. Field & Seasonal Operations Support
The supervisor assists in daily agronomy operations, including:
- Application of pre- and post-emerge crop protection products
- Dry and liquid fertilizer and lime application
- Operation of fertilizer tender trucks
- Transportation and handling of NH3 systems
- Support in other departments when needed (Grain, Energy, Retail, Maintenance)
4. Equipment Maintenance & Facility Oversight
- Ensure routine maintenance and repairs are completed and documented
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas, equipment, and vehicles
- Assist with equipment setup and seasonal readiness
5. Safety, Accountability & Customer Service
- Use appropriate PPE and ensure safe work environments
- Identify and report hazards immediately
- Promote professionalism, punctuality, and accountability
- Deliver high-quality customer service through effective communication
- Represent NEW Cooperative positively with customers and partners
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1–3 months of related experience (agriculture or operations preferred)
- Understanding of the seasonal demands of the farm supply business
Licenses & Certifications (Required or Obtainable)
- Valid Driver’s License (must be licensed and insurable)
- Class A CDL with Tanker & HazMat endorsement
- Commercial Applicator License
- Ability to pass a DOT physical every two years
