Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, is seeking a Compliance Officer to support the implementation and monitoring of Etihad’s Quality Management Program for food safety and Halal compliance across F&B and service partners, ensuring adherence to UAE and international regulations.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities
As Compliance Officer at Etihad Airways, your accountabilities include:
Food Safety & Halal Compliance
- Support compliance efforts with Etihad Catering and F&B partners on food safety requirements
- Ensure adherence to Halal certification and Islamic dietary requirements across supplier network
- Monitor HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) implementation and compliance
- Verify food safety standards meet UAE regulations and international aviation catering guidelines
Regulatory Monitoring & Policy Updates
- Monitor regulatory updates from UAE authorities and international food safety organizations
- Assist in updating internal policies and procedures to reflect current compliance needs
- Track changes in Halal certification requirements and food safety regulations
- Ensure alignment with FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, and aviation-specific food safety standards
Audits & Inspections
- Assist in planning and executing audits and inspections across Etihad’s supplier network
- Conduct on-site assessments of catering facilities and F&B service partners
- Document audit findings, non-conformances, and corrective action requirements
- Track performance data and assist in preparing reports on compliance trends and audit outcomes
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Contribute to development and upkeep of food safety, Halal, and quality assurance documentation
- Support documentation processes during new vendor onboarding and contract periods
- Maintain accurate records of compliance-related activities, audit results, and corrective actions
- Manage allergen and ingredient declarations ensuring accurate documentation
Complaint Investigation & Corrective Action
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders on complaint investigations and documentation follow-up
- Track corrective actions and verify closure of non-conformances
- Assist in managing product recall procedures as needed
- Document lessons learned and implement preventive measures
Training & Capacity Building
- Help organize and deliver basic training sessions on food safety and hygiene practices
- Provide allergen awareness training to catering staff and F&B partners
- Support knowledge transfer on HACCP principles and Halal compliance requirements
- Develop training materials and presentations for compliance education
Education & Experience
The ideal candidate for this compliance officer position must possess:
Educational Requirements (REQUIRED)
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or Food Engineering
- OR Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, or Applied Microbiology
- OR Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related discipline
Professional Experience
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in food safety, HACCP implementation, or quality assurance
- Experience within catering operations, food manufacturing, or hospitality industry required
- Background in aviation catering or airline food service is highly advantageous
- Proven track record in compliance monitoring and supplier auditing
Certifications & Training
- Formal HACCP training and certification from recognized institution
- Food safety auditing certification (Lead Auditor in ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, or similar)
- Halal certification training or awareness (beneficial for this role)
- Professional certifications in quality assurance or food safety management
Professional Competencies
- Strong attention to detail with systematic approach to compliance documentation
- Good communication skills for working cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to conduct thorough audits and prepare comprehensive reports
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation, data analysis, and presentations
- English language proficiency (written and verbal); Arabic is advantageous
